Job Overview:
The National Consultant position is designed to lead the review and updating of course materials for the course 'Gender and Gender Equality in Policy and Law' at Hanoi Law University. The consultant will be responsible for enhancing the educational framework surrounding gender issues in Vietnam, ensuring that the course content is relevant and reflective of current legal standards and practices. This role involves not only the revision of existing materials but also the delivery of training for lecturers and the organization of extracurricular activities aimed at increasing student engagement with gender topics. The consultant will pilot the course over one academic term, gathering feedback to refine the curriculum further. This position is crucial in strengthening the capacity of both lecturers and students in understanding and applying gender equality principles in policy and law.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Review and update course materials to align with recent legal developments and international standards. This includes finalizing the syllabus, lesson plans, Teaching Guide, case studies, question bank, and assessment tools.
  • Conduct a Training of Trainers (TOT) course for lecturers at Hanoi Law University, equipping them with the skills to effectively utilize the updated course materials and implement active teaching methods.
  • Organize and facilitate extracurricular activities that promote awareness and engagement in gender issues among students.
  • Pilot the course 'Gender and Gender Equality in Policy and Law' at Hanoi Law University, which includes preparing teaching materials, developing case studies, delivering the course, and evaluating its effectiveness.
  • Collect and analyze feedback from both lecturers and students to improve the course content and teaching methods, ultimately proposing the integration of the course into the university's curriculum.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven expertise in gender studies, law, or a related field, with a strong understanding of gender equality issues in Vietnam.
  • Experience in curriculum development and educational material design, particularly in higher education settings.
  • Strong pedagogical skills and experience in training educators or conducting workshops.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including university staff and students.
  • Familiarity with international standards and best practices in gender equality and education.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree or higher in Gender Studies, Law, Education, or a related field is required. Additional certifications in curriculum development or training methodologies would be advantageous.

Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in gender equality, education, or curriculum development is required. Experience working with universities or educational institutions in Vietnam is highly desirable, as is familiarity with the legal framework surrounding gender issues in the country.

Languages:
Fluency in Vietnamese is mandatory, as the course will be conducted in Vietnamese. Proficiency in English is also preferred, as it may be necessary for reviewing international standards and materials.

  • The consultant will work on a part-time basis, with flexibility in scheduling to accommodate the academic calendar of Hanoi Law University. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, and the position is open to both national and international candidates.
