Job Posting Organization:
The United Nations Support Office in Haiti (UNSOH) was established to provide support primarily to the Gang Suppression Force (GSF), the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH), the Haitian National Police (HNP), and the Haitian Armed Forces. The organization is tasked with delivering technical assistance to the Organization of American States (OAS) and operates within the context of joint operations with the GSF. Job Overview:
The Logistics Assistant position is a temporary role located within the Transport Section under the Service Delivery Management Pillar of the Mission Support Division at UNSOH. The incumbent will provide logistical support to UN staff in the field, ensuring the smooth operation of transport services. This includes preparing material request orders, service entry sheets, and liaising with various divisions for invoice processing. The role requires maintaining accurate records, monitoring logistics operations, and assisting with vehicle inspections and maintenance. The Logistics Assistant will also be responsible for coordinating with the warehouse for spare parts and managing transport asset movements, ensuring that all logistics operations are executed efficiently and effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Logistics Assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks including: preparing material request orders for asset transfers, preparing service entry sheets and obtaining funding certification, liaising with procurement and accounting for invoice verification, maintaining contact with mission staff regarding transport services, preparing requisitions and entering data into applicable systems, providing updates on logistics operations and requisition status, assisting staff with relevant procedures, recording and monitoring contract activity, organizing and maintaining contract files, maintaining databases of supply items, generating status reports, monitoring insurance coverage of the UN fleet, assisting with vehicle inspections, maintaining records of transport asset movements, coordinating documentation with MovCon, assisting in transport asset verification exercises, and supporting vehicle recovery arrangements. The Logistics Assistant will also manage attendance records for workshop mechanics and assist in the delivery of completed vehicles from the workshop.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. A valid driver's license for 'B' category is required, and a Diploma/Certificate in Administration/Logistics is desirable. The role requires knowledge of policies and practices related to supply management, purchasing, and logistics, as well as the ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports. Candidates should demonstrate professionalism, effective communication skills, teamwork, and strong planning and organizing abilities.

Educational Background:
The minimum educational requirement for this position is a high school diploma or equivalent. Additionally, candidates are encouraged to possess a Diploma or Certificate in Administration or Logistics, which would enhance their qualifications for the role.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least three years of progressively responsible experience in practical logistics operations or a related area. Experience in air freight, sea freight, and road transportation policies and practices is considered desirable, as it would provide a solid foundation for the responsibilities of the Logistics Assistant.

Languages:
The working languages of the United Nations Secretariat are English and French. For this position, proficiency in both languages is required, with a minimum level of II in reading, writing, listening, and speaking for each language according to the UN Language Framework.

Additional Notes:
This temporary position is available for three months and is subject to formal approval of funding and staffing structures. The appointment may be terminated or adjusted based on the mission's needs or funding approvals. The selected candidate will be expected to deploy temporarily for three months.
