Job Overview:
The National Nutrition Advocacy and Communication Consultancy position is designed to support UNICEF Philippines in maximizing the gains achieved from nutrition advocacy and communication. The consultant will work under the guidance of the Chief of Advocacy and Communication and the Nutrition Manager to implement, monitor, and update the nutrition advocacy and communication plan. This includes producing timely advocacy, media, digital, and donor-facing materials that align with UNICEF's nutrition priorities. The consultancy will focus on critical areas such as maternal nutrition, stunting and wasting, and creating healthy food environments. The consultant will also be involved in institutionalizing maternal nutrition services in routine antenatal care, strengthening local nutrition systems, and advancing protections against unhealthy food marketing. This role is essential in ensuring that UNICEF's nutrition initiatives are effectively communicated and supported across various platforms and stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement the nutrition advocacy and communication plan in collaboration with the Nutrition team and the Advocacy and Communication Section.
  • Produce advocacy materials, including written content, digital media, and presentations for various stakeholders.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of advocacy efforts and communication strategies, adjusting as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Coordinate with program and communication teams to ensure alignment and consistency in messaging.
  • Manage the production and approval process for communication materials, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to UNICEF standards.
  • Provide strategic advice on reputational and risk issues related to nutrition advocacy and communication.
  • Engage with media, partners, and stakeholders to promote UNICEF's nutrition initiatives and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Support the organization of events and campaigns related to nutrition advocacy, ensuring visibility and engagement with target audiences.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this consultancy, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's university degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Development Communication, Public Health/Nutrition Communication, Political Science/Political Economy, International Relations, Social Sciences, or related fields. An advanced university degree is an advantage.
  • A minimum of eight years of progressively responsible experience in advocacy, communication, media, digital content production, public health/nutrition communication, or social development communication. Experience with UNICEF, UN, government, INGOs, or development partners is preferred.
  • Proven ability to develop advocacy and communication strategies, produce compelling written and digital materials, and translate technical nutrition issues for various audiences.
  • Strong coordination skills across teams and the ability to manage content production and approvals effectively.

Educational Background:
Candidates are required to have at least a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Development Communication, Public Health/Nutrition Communication, Political Science, International Relations, or Social Sciences. An advanced degree in these fields is considered an advantage and may enhance the candidate's profile for this consultancy.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of eight years of progressively responsible experience in relevant fields such as advocacy, communication, media, digital content production, public health/nutrition communication, or social development communication. Experience working with UNICEF, UN agencies, government bodies, international NGOs, or development partners is highly desirable and will be viewed favorably during the selection process.

Languages:
Excellent written and spoken English is mandatory for this position. Fluency in Filipino or another Philippine language is considered an advantage, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance the effectiveness of advocacy efforts.

The consultancy is office-based with travel requirements and has a contract duration of 12 months.
