Job Overview:
The Economic Recovery Assistant plays a crucial role in the implementation of economic recovery activities under the guidance of the Economic Recovery Team Leader. This position serves as the primary point of contact for program participants, ensuring effective communication and quality service delivery. The assistant will be responsible for conducting intake sessions, providing support to participants in selecting employment pathways, and coordinating with Economic Recovery Officers to facilitate the smooth execution of activities. The role emphasizes the importance of understanding the local context and market trends to provide tailored support to individuals from refugee and host communities. The assistant will also engage in outreach activities, contribute to program monitoring, and assist in data collection for assessments and research, all while adhering to DRC's procedures and guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Economic Recovery Assistant will undertake a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: conducting wage and self-employment intake sessions with potential program participants; sharing feedback and observations with the Economic Recovery Team Leader; ensuring follow-up sessions are conducted with participants; capturing protection and safety risks during intake sessions; supporting the Self Employment Officer in implementing home-based business processes; assisting the Wage Employment Officer in assessing job seekers; maintaining documentation and records; acting as the receptionist for the livelihoods center; providing feedback on outreach activities; engaging with community members and stakeholders; contributing to program monitoring and evaluation; and performing any other tasks assigned by management. The assistant will also be responsible for ensuring that all activities comply with DRC's standards and contribute to the overall success of the economic recovery program.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of one year of practical experience in economic recovery or livelihoods, preferably within an international non-governmental organization (INGO). Experience in conducting individual assessments focused on vulnerability and capacity is essential, along with a background in the humanitarian field, particularly working with displaced individuals. A solid understanding of refugees' rights and protection issues, especially concerning children and women, is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is necessary, and candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills in both Turkish and Arabic.
Educational Background:
An undergraduate degree or higher in business management, economics, finance, social science, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding economic recovery principles and practices, as well as the ability to engage effectively with program participants and stakeholders.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of one year of relevant experience in economic recovery or livelihoods, particularly in a humanitarian context. Candidates should have experience working with vulnerable populations, conducting assessments, and implementing programs that support economic recovery initiatives. Familiarity with the specific challenges faced by displaced individuals in Southern Turkey is highly desirable.
Languages:
Fluency in Turkish and Arabic is mandatory for this role, as effective communication with program participants and stakeholders is critical. Proficiency in English is also beneficial, as it may be required for reporting and documentation purposes.
Additional Notes:
The contract for this position is set to last until December 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension based on funding availability and performance. The position is classified as Band I – Non-Manager, and the designated duty station is in Kahramanmaraş. The expected start date for this role is November 1, 202
