Job Overview: The position of Sovereign Vulnerabilities Data Visualization and Analytics Contractor is integral to the Credit Risk Management Unit (RMC) within the Office of Risk Management (RMG) at the IDB. This role is designed for individuals who possess a strong background in web development and artificial intelligence, with a keen focus on data visualization and effective communication. The contractor will be responsible for developing and enhancing interactive tools that simplify complex sovereign risk data into clear and compelling visual insights. These insights are crucial for credit monitoring, internal risk assessments, and aiding senior management in decision-making processes. The contractor will leverage their skills in web development, data visualization, and information design to create interactive dashboards, automate data-processing workflows, and enhance the scalability and sustainability of RMC’s analytical products. The role requires collaboration with credit risk specialists to translate sovereign risk concepts into effective digital tools and visual products, ensuring that the information presented is accurate, consistent, and user-friendly.
Duties and Responsibilities: The contractor will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to: developing interactive dashboards and web-based analytical tools using technologies such as React, Python, and JavaScript; designing intuitive data visualizations and analytical interfaces that effectively communicate complex sovereign risk information; automating data processing and visualization workflows to enhance efficiency and sustainability; integrating and processing data from various internal and external sources; identifying opportunities for automation and AI integration to improve existing analytical processes; collaborating with credit risk specialists to ensure that digital tools meet analytical requirements; supporting data quality assurance and validation; developing technical documentation for maintenance and scalability of solutions; and maintaining visual design standards to ensure consistency across Sovereign Vulnerabilities products.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong educational background and technical skills relevant to the role. This includes a Master's degree or equivalent in fields such as Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, Physics, Information Systems, or Software Engineering, with a focus on data visualization. Additionally, candidates should have at least three years of progressive experience in web development, data visualization, or related areas, demonstrating the ability to develop interactive, data-driven applications. Proficiency in React, Python, and modern web-development technologies is essential, along with a strong understanding of data visualization principles and experience in creating sophisticated charts and graphs. Familiarity with sovereign risk and credit risk datasets is highly desirable but not mandatory.
Educational Background: The educational requirement for this position includes at least a Master's degree or an equivalent advanced degree in relevant fields such as Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, Physics, Information Systems, or Software Engineering. The focus should be on data visualization or other areas pertinent to the responsibilities of the role, ensuring that candidates have a solid foundation in both theoretical knowledge and practical application.
Experience: Candidates are expected to have a minimum of three years of progressive experience in areas such as web development, data visualization, agentic AI development, data analytics, or business intelligence. This experience should include demonstrated proficiency in developing interactive, data-driven applications, showcasing the ability to translate complex data into user-friendly formats and tools.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory, along with fluency in one of the other official languages of the Bank, which include Spanish, French, or Portuguese. This requirement ensures effective communication within the diverse linguistic environment of the organization and facilitates collaboration with stakeholders across different regions.
Additional Notes: The position is classified as a Products and External Services Consultant (PEC) with a contract duration of four months. The work location is remote, allowing for flexibility in work arrangements. Candidates must be citizens of one of the 48 member countries of the IDB and should not have any family members working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab to avoid conflicts of interest.
