Job Overview:
The Asistente de TEC Roving- SSA5 position at WFP is designed for individuals who are willing to travel frequently to various operational offices where WFP conducts its activities. This role is crucial in ensuring that the technology and communication systems are maintained effectively, allowing WFP staff to perform their duties efficiently. The candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and optimization of computer systems and communication equipment, ensuring that all technology functions effectively. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to providing high-quality support to WFP staff. The Asistente de TEC will also be involved in training staff on the use of technology and systems, ensuring that all personnel are equipped to utilize these tools effectively. The role is integral to maintaining the operational integrity of WFP's technology infrastructure, which is essential for delivering humanitarian assistance.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct maintenance operations on computer and communication systems, ensuring they function effectively and efficiently.
  • Manage the upkeep of technology, including computers, printers, and telecommunications equipment, adhering to data protection and access control mechanisms.
  • Maintain an updated asset control system, recording the allocation and decommissioning of equipment in each location.
  • Respond to task assignments from the TEC unit supervisor, ensuring completion according to established standards and timelines.
  • Address various technology and system inquiries to assist WFP staff in delivering their services.
  • Provide standard training to end-users on technology and systems, ensuring effective utilization.
  • Systematically install equipment and software, conducting tests and troubleshooting to ensure operational effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with the TEC Associate to install, activate, and maintain telecommunications systems and equipment.
  • Assist in creating standard materials, such as training documentation and web content, to provide staff with necessary information about IT services and products. 1
  • Suggest improvements to methods and processes to enhance IT service delivery. 1
  • Follow established emergency intervention processes and procedures to contribute to meeting emergency food assistance needs.

Required Qualifications:
Minimum education requirement includes completion of secondary education, with a preference for candidates holding a technical or university certificate in Computing and/or Information Technology. Candidates should demonstrate a proactive attitude, adaptability, flexibility, teamwork, customer orientation, commitment, motivation, communication skills, planning and organization abilities, self-management, and technological awareness. Experience in maintaining computer and printing equipment, structured cabling installation, Ethernet and WiFi network types, Access Point, Fortigate, Cisco configurations, and user support through Microsoft tools at both first and second levels is essential. Candidates should also possess a strong understanding of technology maintenance procedures and be able to work effectively in a team environment.

Educational Background:
Candidates are required to have completed secondary education, with a technical or university-level qualification in Computing and/or Information Technology being highly valued. This educational background is crucial for understanding the technical aspects of the role and for effectively managing the technology and systems that support WFP's operations.

Experience:
Candidates should have relevant experience in the maintenance of computer and printing equipment, installation and maintenance of structured cabling, and familiarity with Ethernet and WiFi networks. Experience with Access Point, Fortigate, Cisco configurations, and providing user support through Microsoft tools is also required. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working in technology maintenance and support roles, demonstrating the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, with intermediate knowledge (level B) being acceptable. Additional language skills may be beneficial but are not specified as mandatory for this position.

This position is offered under a Special Service Agreement (SSA) contract type, with a duration of 3 months. The role is available exclusively for nationals of Trinidad and Tobago. The position requires a high degree of mobility, as the candidate will be expected to travel frequently to various WFP operational offices.
