Job Overview: The position of Extended-Term Consultant (ETC) - Data Analyst is situated within the Development Research Group of the Development Economics Vice Presidency (DEC) at the World Bank. The DEC is recognized as a leading authority on development policy, providing insights and research that inform the World Bank's strategies. The selected consultant will play a crucial role in managing and analyzing data for the Global Findex, which is the world's most comprehensive database on financial inclusion. This role involves not only data management but also the creation of visualizations and analytical outputs that communicate findings effectively to various stakeholders. The consultant will be expected to support the entire data lifecycle, from cleaning and harmonizing data to producing high-quality reports and visualizations that contribute to the World Bank's mission of poverty reduction.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Extended-Term Consultant (ETC) - Data Analyst include:
Supporting all data management operations for the Global Findex, which involves cleaning, documenting, harmonizing, and preparing large-scale survey data from the Global Findex database and Gallup World Poll.
Developing and maintaining efficient coding workflows in R and/or Stata, implementing process improvements to enhance analytical efficiency and transparency.
Conducting econometric and descriptive analyses using Global Findex data and effectively communicating findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Drafting and producing reproducibility code for reports, regional notes, policy briefs, blogs, and presentations based on Global Findex data.
Creating high-quality data visualizations such as charts, tables, and graphs to support publications and presentations.
Collaborating with internal and external partners to produce policy-relevant outputs and respond to data and analytical requests.
Managing the Global Findex website, which includes updating the homepage carousel with current publications and events, adding pages for newly published notes and blogs, converting PDFs to HTML, and troubleshooting issues with data and visualization pages.
Creating and embedding data dashboards in online publications to facilitate easier access to underlying data and replication of figures for selected country samples.
