Job Overview:
The International Consultant – Project Development Specialist position is designed for a professional who will play a crucial role in the development and implementation of projects that align with UNDP's mission in Somalia. The consultant will be responsible for providing expert advice and support in project design, development, and management. This includes conducting needs assessments, formulating project proposals, and ensuring that projects are aligned with national priorities and UNDP's strategic objectives. The consultant is expected to engage with various stakeholders, including government entities, civil society organizations, and international partners, to foster collaboration and ensure the successful execution of projects. The role requires a deep understanding of the socio-economic context of Somalia and the ability to navigate complex political environments to achieve project goals.

The position requires a set of qualifications that include:
Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a minimum of a Master's degree in a relevant field such as international development, project management, public administration, or a related discipline. Additional certifications in project management or related areas will be considered an asset.
Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 5-7 years of relevant professional experience in project development and management, particularly in the context of international development. Experience working with UN agencies or similar organizations is highly desirable. Familiarity with the socio-economic and political landscape of Somalia will be an advantage.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Somali or other local languages is considered an asset and will enhance communication with local stakeholders.
Additional Notes:
This position is classified as an individual contractor role, and the contract duration will be specified upon selection. The consultant will be expected to work full-time, with flexibility in hours to accommodate project needs. Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience. The position may involve travel within Somalia, depending on project requirements. - Engaging in capacity-building activities to enhance the skills of local partners and stakeholders in project management.
