Job Overview:
The position of Innovation Bootcamp and Hackathon Lead Consultant for the Botswana Circular Economy & Waste Innovation Challenge Hackathon involves leading a significant initiative aimed at promoting sustainable practices in waste management and circular economy principles. The consultant will be responsible for designing and implementing an innovation bootcamp and hackathon that encourages participants to develop creative solutions to waste management challenges in Botswana. This role requires a deep understanding of circular economy concepts, waste management strategies, and innovation facilitation. The consultant will work closely with various stakeholders, including government agencies, private sector partners, and community organizations, to ensure the success of the hackathon and to foster a collaborative environment that promotes innovative thinking and problem-solving.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in innovation management, circular economy, and waste management. A proven track record of successfully leading similar initiatives or projects is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate excellent facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate diverse groups of participants. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is highly desirable, as is familiarity with the local context in Botswana regarding waste management and sustainability practices.
Educational Background:
A minimum of a Master's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainable Development, Innovation Management, or a related field is required. Additional certifications or training in project management, facilitation, or entrepreneurship would be advantageous.
Experience:
Candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in leading innovation initiatives, particularly in the areas of circular economy and waste management. Experience in organizing hackathons or similar events is highly preferred, along with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including government, private sector, and civil society.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all communications and documentation will be conducted in English. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Botswana would be considered an asset, as it may enhance engagement with local communities and participants.
Additional Notes:
This position is for a contract duration of 10 months, and it is expected to be a full-time engagement. The consultant will be required to work closely with UNDP and other partners throughout the duration of the project. Compensation details will be discussed during the interview process, and benefits may include travel allowances and other support as per UNDP policies.

- Developing evaluation criteria for the hackathon submissions and overseeing the judging process to select winning ideas.
- Providing mentorship and support to participants throughout the hackathon, helping them refine their concepts and prepare for presentations.
- Documenting the outcomes of the hackathon and providing recommendations for further development of the winning ideas.
- Collaborating with UNDP and other partners to ensure the sustainability of the initiatives developed during the hackathon.
