Job Overview:
The Country Officer position at the IFC's Country Office in Lagos, Nigeria, is a pivotal role that involves promoting and coordinating the organization's investment and advisory activities within the country. The Country Officer will report directly to the Nigeria Country Head and will be responsible for high-level interactions with the private sector, government, and international development organizations. This role is crucial for developing new business opportunities and supporting the structuring and negotiation of deals. The Country Officer will also be involved in implementing the IFC's strategy in Nigeria, preparing business plan updates, and contributing to the development of WBG strategy documents. A deep understanding of the local economic and political landscape is essential for success in this role, as is the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Country Officer will assist the Nigeria Country Head in overseeing IFC activities in Nigeria and ensuring the smooth operation of the office. Key responsibilities include: working with the Country Head to implement the IFC's strategy, participating in the preparation of WBG strategy documents, developing a comprehensive understanding of the country’s economic and political issues, collaborating with various teams within IFC to roll out the IFC 3.0 strategy, building and maintaining relationships with private sector entities and government officials, participating in client selection processes, assisting in project structuring and implementation, tracking project pipelines, managing development partner relations, preparing high-quality briefs for WBG management, and representing IFC at high-profile events.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in finance, business administration, management, economics, or a related field. A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience is required, particularly in investment or commercial banking, public-private partnerships, management consulting, or operational roles in investment and advisory capacities. Experience in the Africa region is essential, and familiarity with Nigeria or other fragile and conflict-affected countries is advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical, financial modeling, and transaction structuring skills, as well as the ability to assess business opportunities and risks effectively.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree in finance, business administration, management, economics, or a similar field. This advanced education is crucial for understanding the complexities of investment and advisory roles within the IFC.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in fields such as investment banking, public-private partnerships, or management consulting. Candidates should have a proven track record in developing and maintaining high-level relationships within the private sector, government, and development institutions, as well as experience in project management and business development.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as excellent written and oral communication skills are essential for effective interaction with stakeholders. While no additional languages are specified as preferred, proficiency in other languages may be beneficial in enhancing communication with diverse partners.
