Job Overview:
The Social Worker position at IOM involves supporting the orderly operation of an Accommodation Center for Unaccompanied Migrant Children (UMC) in Patra, Greece. The successful candidate will be responsible for taking the social history of unaccompanied children, facilitating access to community services, and organizing social support sessions. The role requires the development of partnerships with the local community to enhance the children's social networks and assist them in accessing local services. The Social Worker will also monitor the children's health and vaccination schedules, implement individual action plans, and ensure the children's smooth transition to adulthood. This position is crucial in providing a safe and supportive environment for vulnerable children and ensuring their needs are met during their stay at the center.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Social Worker include:

• Taking the social history of unaccompanied children and facilitating their access to community services and vocational education.
• Organizing group and individual sessions for social support, addressing challenges faced by the children.
• Developing partnerships with local organizations to enhance children's social networks.
• Providing necessary information to children for accessing local services.
• Supporting the continuous development of children's abilities and their transition to autonomy.
• Completing and posting the Individual Family Rehabilitation Plan for each child.
• Referring beneficiaries to medical care when necessary and monitoring vaccination schedules.
• Acting as a Case Worker for assigned children, implementing individual action plans, conducting Best Interest Assessments, and maintaining individual files.
• Supporting children during their integration into activities and preparing them for departure from the center. 1
• Escorting children to appointments and distributing essential items as needed. 1
• Reinforcing the rules of the Accommodation Center and performing other assigned duties.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Social Worker position include:

• A university degree in Social Work from an accredited institution, with a Master's degree being an advantage.
• A valid license to practice as a Social Worker and membership with the Association of Greek Social Workers.
• Experience working with children is considered an asset.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, personal commitment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Good computer literacy and the ability to work under challenging conditions.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and night emergencies.
• A valid driver's license with at least five years of driving experience is advantageous.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a university degree in Social Work from an accredited academic institution. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. A Master's degree in Social Work is considered an advantage for this position.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of one year of relevant experience, with previous experience working with children being highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a challenging environment and possess strong interpersonal skills.

Languages:
Fluency in Greek (oral and written) is required for this position, as well as a working knowledge of English or French (oral and written). Proficiency in these languages will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
