Job Overview:
The Project Associate will play a crucial role in the implementation of a five-year initiative aimed at improving the living conditions of population groups in critical security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security contexts in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). This initiative focuses on mental health and psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support (MHPSS) for peace in the DRC, financed by the German Development Bank, KfW. The Project Associate will provide administrative, operational, and project support under the supervision of the MHPSS Programme Coordinator and the MHPSS Project Officer. The role involves assisting in various project activities, including community consultations, the reintegration of ex-combatants, and the rehabilitation of community infrastructure. The Project Associate will also be responsible for maintaining effective communication with project partners and ensuring that project activities are implemented in accordance with established guidelines and standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Associate will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:
  • Financial Tasks: Receiving payment requests, preparing required documents, maintaining records of payment requests, and conducting follow-ups with the Finance Team.
  • Logistics Tasks: Supporting MHPSS Teams during field visits, assisting in the purchase and distribution of equipment, and supporting health centers and community infrastructure rehabilitation.
  • Implementation Support: Following up on project activities, assisting in the preparation of guidance documents, and supporting MHPSS Teams in various project-related activities.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Assisting in project monitoring and evaluation activities, including data collection and impact assessments.
  • Communication: Maintaining regular communication with project partners and stakeholders at provincial and local levels.
  • Reporting: Assisting in the preparation of regular reports and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Performing any other related tasks as requested by management.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess either a high school diploma with five years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in Management, Political or Social Sciences, Law, International Relations, Humanities, or Development Studies from an accredited institution with three years of relevant experience. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Relevant experience in project implementation, particularly in health, mental health, stabilization, democratic dialogue, or community mobilization, is essential. Familiarity with community reintegration projects and the local context is considered an asset.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a high school diploma with five years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Management, Political or Social Sciences, Law, International Relations, Humanities, or Development Studies. The degree must be from an accredited academic institution recognized by the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have experience in assisting with the implementation of projects, preferably in areas related to health, mental health, stabilization, democratic dialogue, or community mobilization. Experience with community reintegration projects, particularly in mental health and psychosocial support, is highly desirable. Familiarity with ex-combatant reintegration programs and the local context in the DRC is also advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish) is mandatory for all staff members. For this position, a good command of French (spoken and written) is required, while knowledge of English and Swahili is considered an advantage.

Additional Notes:
The position is subject to funding confirmation, and the selection process may be used to staff similar positions in various duty stations. Recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in a similar position for a period of 24 months. Appointment will be contingent upon certification of medical fitness, accreditation, residency or visa requirements, and security clearances.
