Job Overview: The Senior Project Associate - Resettlement position is crucial for the management of the Resettlement and Family Reunification Unit within the IOM Country Office in Dublin, Ireland. The incumbent will work under the general supervision of the Chief of Mission and the direct supervision of the Head of Movement Management Unit. The role involves independently leading and coordinating the implementation of projects related to resettlement and family reunification. The successful candidate will monitor the implementation of activities to ensure they align with established plans, analyze any difficulties encountered, and recommend adjustments to work plans as necessary. This position requires regular research and analysis of national, regional, and international developments relevant to migration, as well as the preparation of reports and documentation for stakeholders. The Senior Project Associate will also be responsible for budget monitoring, financial and administrative coordination, and conducting capacity-building workshops. Effective liaison with local authorities, partners, and other stakeholders is essential, as is the ability to document good practices and contribute to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and new projects.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Project Associate include:
Leading and coordinating the implementation of resettlement and family reunification projects.
Monitoring project activities to ensure compliance with established plans and making recommendations for adjustments as needed.
Conducting research and analysis on relevant developments and preparing reports for stakeholders.
Monitoring budget expenditures and maintaining records of project budgets.
Coordinating financial, administrative, and technical aspects of the project in line with IOM policies.
Planning and conducting capacity-building workshops for relevant parties.
Participating in meetings and maintaining effective communication with local authorities and partners.
Preparing correspondence, briefing notes, presentations, and reports in a timely manner.
Documenting good practices and contributing to the development of SOPs and policies. 1
Supervising and providing guidance to reporting staff. 1
Performing other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a High School diploma with seven years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited institution with five years of relevant professional experience. Candidates must have experience in liaising with governmental authorities and working with migrants, refugees, and other vulnerable groups. Prior experience with international humanitarian organizations is advantageous. Knowledge of Movement Operations SOPs and related systems is an asset. Strong computer skills, interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision are essential.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a High School diploma with seven years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited academic institution. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience: The position requires significant experience, specifically in liaising with governmental authorities, national and international institutions, and working with migrants and refugees. Experience in a multi-cultural setting and with international humanitarian organizations is preferred. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing projects and working effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Languages: Fluency in English is required for this position, both oral and written. Knowledge of any UN languages is considered an advantage. Proficiency in the required languages will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
Additional Notes: The position is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit in Ireland will be considered. The contract duration may be shorter than initially mentioned to align with the expiry date of the work permit.
