Job Overview:
The Chief of Party (CoP) position is a senior management role within the HOPE-S program, which is a five-year initiative funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) aimed at addressing gender-based violence and conflict-related sexual violence in Sudan. The CoP will lead the consortium, which includes Norwegian Church Aid, Trocaire, and Zenab, along with local NGOs, to ensure effective implementation and management of the program. The role requires exceptional leadership skills, the ability to navigate complex stakeholder landscapes, and a strong background in protection and humanitarian response. The CoP will be responsible for providing vision and direction to the consortium, overseeing program implementation, ensuring compliance with donor requirements, and fostering collaboration among partners. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Chief of Party will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including: 1) Providing vision, leadership, and direction to the consortium and its activities, ensuring a coherent strategy that meets the needs of the target population. 2) Leading the Consortium Management Unit (CMU) and overseeing the quality and progress of program implementation. 3) Ensuring compliance with donor requirements and managing financial oversight, including budget monitoring and reporting. 4) Coordinating capacity strengthening interventions across the consortium and empowering local actors in decision-making processes. 5) Managing team dynamics, staff well-being, and performance, including coaching and mentoring CMU staff. 6) Facilitating effective governance structures and ensuring regular communication among consortium members. 7) Leading advocacy and networking efforts, maintaining relationships with stakeholders, and representing the consortium at various forums. 8) Overseeing the development of project communication strategies and ensuring compliance with donor branding and visibility requirements. 9) Identifying new funding opportunities and managing the analysis of protection data to inform programming and advocacy efforts.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Chief of Party position must possess a master's degree in political science, law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">international law, or a related field. They should have a minimum of 7 years of international experience in managing complex humanitarian projects, particularly in fragile contexts. Prior experience in multi-stakeholder consortium management is essential, along with proven expertise in gender-based violence programming and safeguarding practices. Candidates should demonstrate strong financial management skills and familiarity with donor compliance processes, particularly those of the FCDO. Additionally, candidates must exhibit proficiency in program cycle management, analytical thinking, strategic planning, and effective communication.
Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a master's degree in a relevant field such as political science, international law, or a related discipline. This advanced degree is essential to equip the candidate with the necessary knowledge and skills to navigate the complexities of humanitarian programming and stakeholder engagement in a challenging environment.
Experience:
The Chief of Party role requires extensive experience, specifically a minimum of 7 years in international settings, managing complex humanitarian projects. Candidates should have a strong background in partner coordination and experience working in fragile contexts. Proven experience in multi-stakeholder consortium management and coordination is crucial, as is a demonstrated ability to effectively guide consortium partners and manage diverse teams. Languages:

Additional Notes:
The position is offered as a two-year contract with the possibility of extension, subject to funding and performance evaluations. The salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for International staff, and the position is graded at Band M.E. The expected start date for this role is October 2026, and the duty station will be Port Sudan.
