Job Overview:
The National Sustainable Finance & Institutional Specialist position is designed to support the UNDP's efforts in promoting sustainable finance practices within the Republic of North Macedonia. The specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies that align with national policies and international best practices in sustainable finance. This role requires a deep understanding of financial systems, environmental sustainability, and institutional frameworks. The specialist will work closely with government agencies, financial institutions, and other stakeholders to foster collaboration and drive initiatives that enhance sustainable investment and financing mechanisms. The position is expected to contribute to the overall goal of integrating sustainability into the financial sector, ensuring that financial practices support environmental and social objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of the current financial landscape in relation to sustainable finance practices in North Macedonia.
  • Develop strategic frameworks and action plans to promote sustainable finance initiatives.
  • Collaborate with government bodies, financial institutions, and civil society to enhance understanding and implementation of sustainable finance principles.
  • Provide technical assistance and capacity building to stakeholders on sustainable finance tools and methodologies.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented strategies and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and progress to stakeholders.
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions to raise awareness about sustainable finance.
  • Engage in policy dialogue to influence the development of regulations and standards that support sustainable finance.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven expertise in sustainable finance, environmental economics, or related fields.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex financial systems and their impact on sustainability.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in project management and implementation of sustainable finance initiatives.
  • Knowledge of international sustainable finance frameworks and standards.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in finance, economics, environmental science, or a related field is required. Additional certifications in sustainable finance or related disciplines will be considered an advantage.

Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in sustainable finance, analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">financial analysis, or related areas is required. Experience working with international organizations, government agencies, or financial institutions is highly desirable. Proven track record of successfully implementing sustainable finance projects is essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of Macedonian or Albanian is considered an asset. Proficiency in additional languages will be advantageous.
