Job Overview:
The IT Operations Officer (Digital Services) at WFP plays a crucial role in the development and implementation of effective IT solutions that support the organization's mission of delivering food assistance to beneficiaries. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about leveraging technology to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. The officer will be responsible for managing IT systems and networks, ensuring data security, and providing technical support to users. The officer will also be involved in budget planning, procurement processes, and the development of technical specifications for IT equipment and services. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop plans and budgets for IT/TC systems deployment aligned with business needs and WFP corporate standards.
  • Monitor and maintain IT/TC systems and networks, ensuring data security and access controls.
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical specifications and tender documents for IT procurement.
  • Analyze data to prepare accurate reports on IT activities, investments, and costs, identifying cost-efficiency opportunities.
  • Maintain technical expertise and stay updated on industry developments.
  • Provide advice to managers and users, resolving issues and ensuring compliance with IT policies.
  • Guide and supervise junior staff, designing training programs and supporting complex analyses.
  • Establish partnerships with internal and external colleagues to understand their needs and provide technical support.
  • Prepare operational plans for emergency preparedness and ensure basic IT services during crises. 1
  • Document business requirements for IT solutions and communicate them effectively to stakeholders. 1
  • Manage IT service levels in alignment with SLAs and conduct satisfaction surveys. 1
  • Oversee estimates, business cases, planning, and risk management for IT solution delivery. 1
  • Develop and deploy IT systems in compliance with WFP policies and information management strategies. 1
  • Write detailed technical specifications for applications and maintain comprehensive documentation. 1
  • Install, configure, and customize IT systems, ensuring compliance with WFP standards. 1
  • Perform additional tasks as required by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in IT, Computer Science, Software Development, or a related field. Alternatively, a first university degree with additional relevant work experience or training in IT is acceptable. The role requires a strong understanding of IT systems and the ability to apply specialized knowledge to resolve issues. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of IT.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree in IT, Computer Science, Software Development, or a relevant field is required. A first university degree combined with additional years of related work experience or training in IT is also acceptable. This educational background ensures that candidates have the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to perform effectively in the role.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least three years of professional or managerial experience in Information Management and System Development, preferably within an international organization, government, or UN system. Experience in designing and developing systems and applications to meet business requirements is essential. Candidates should also have a proven track record of utilizing specialized knowledge to resolve IT support issues and contributing to IT projects through business requirement analysis.

Languages:
Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Urdu is mandatory. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in a diverse work environment.
