Job Overview:
The Senior Information Management Associate will play a crucial role in developing and administering databases and information systems that support the Migrant Services and Development (MSDL) and Transition and Recovery Unit (TRU) activities. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying and implementing automated workflows for data processing and reporting, utilizing various tools such as SQL, Python, Excel, and Power BI. The associate will be responsible for ensuring data integrity and quality through rigorous cleaning and validation processes, as well as supporting the development of data collection tools. The role also involves drafting reports and visualizations to aid in operational activities and project monitoring, thereby contributing to effective advocacy and communication efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and administer databases and information systems related to MSDL and TRU activities, determining structure, fields, and workflows to meet evolving programmatic and reporting needs.
  • Build and implement automated workflows for data processing and reporting using SQL, Python, Excel, Power BI, SPSS, and GIS, proactively identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Perform data cleaning, validation, and quality assurance protocols to support data consistency and reliability.
  • Support the development and maintenance of data collection tools using KOBO and similar platforms.
  • Draft reports, dashboards, maps, and visualizations to support operational activities and project monitoring.
  • Monitor mechanisms to safeguard data integrity and compliance with data protection standards.
  • Serve as a technical resource for field teams and Implementing Partners on data collection tools and information management processes.
  • Coordinate with programme teams and partners for timely and accurate data submission and reporting.
  • Coordinate database backup, documentation, and archiving procedures. 1
  • Identify information management gaps and contribute to a coherent IOM Ukraine information management approach. 1
  • Support and apply data confidentiality guidelines. 1
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Information Technology, Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems, or a related field from an accredited academic institution, along with four years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, a High School diploma with six years of relevant professional experience is acceptable. Candidates must demonstrate a strong understanding of information management principles and practices, as well as the ability to work with various data management tools and platforms.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Information Management, Information Technology, Computer Science, or Geographic Information Systems. This educational background is essential for understanding the technical aspects of data management and information systems.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have experience in developing digital data collection tools, conducting data quality checks and analysis, and maintaining databases. Experience in GIS or spatial visualization is considered an advantage, as is prior experience working with the UN or international organizations, particularly in cash-based activities. This experience is crucial for understanding the context and challenges of working in migration and humanitarian settings.

Languages:
Fluency in both Ukrainian and English is required for this position, encompassing both oral and written communication skills. This bilingual capability is essential for effective collaboration and reporting within the organization and with external partners.
