Job Overview: The Communications Consultant will play a pivotal role in enhancing the visibility of IOM Poland's activities. This position emphasizes the importance of public information and awareness-raising initiatives, as well as the production of multimedia communication products that support ongoing programs, particularly those related to refugees and migrants. The consultant will work under the direct supervision of the Media and Communications Officer and will coordinate closely with program managers to ensure that communication strategies align with IOM's mission and objectives. The consultant's work will involve creating engaging content that resonates with various audiences and effectively communicates the organization's efforts and achievements in the field of migration.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: supporting the implementation of the mission's public information, communications, and visibility strategy; developing communication materials that highlight IOM Poland's activities; producing digital content such as photography, videography, and social media products; conducting coverage of official visits and high-level meetings; collecting testimonials from beneficiaries and stakeholders; managing IOM Poland's digital platforms, including the website and social media channels; designing and developing Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials; supporting outreach campaigns; and undertaking duty travel within Poland as necessary to document program implementation and events. The consultant will also be expected to perform any other communications-related duties assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in Communications, Journalism, Arts, International Relations, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field from an accredited academic institution. Additionally, candidates should have demonstrated experience in communications, public information, or media, with a strong background in managing social media or digital communication campaigns. Experience in outreach, advocacy, or awareness-raising initiatives is also required, along with a desirable background in photography and videography. Knowledge of migration issues or humanitarian programming will be considered an advantage.
Educational Background: The position requires a university degree in a relevant field such as Communications, Journalism, Arts, International Relations, Development Studies, or Social Sciences from an accredited institution. This educational background is essential to ensure that the consultant has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to effectively carry out the responsibilities of the role.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have a proven track record in communications, public information, or media, with specific experience in managing social media or digital communication campaigns. Candidates should also have experience supporting outreach, advocacy, or awareness-raising initiatives, and experience in photography and videography is highly desirable. Familiarity with migration issues or humanitarian programming will be an added advantage, as it will enhance the consultant's ability to communicate effectively about IOM's work.
Languages: Fluency in Korean and English (both written and spoken) is required for this consultancy. Additionally, a working knowledge of another migrant language, particularly Ukrainian and/or Russian, is considered an advantage. The proficiency in the required languages will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments to ensure candidates meet the communication needs of the role.
Additional Notes: The consultancy will be covered against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan (CP) at no cost. However, IOM does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for non-occupational accidents and illnesses, and consultants are responsible for their own medical insurance for such cases. Candidates will need to provide written proof of medical coverage before commencing work. Any offer made to the candidate is subject to funding confirmation, and the appointment will require certification of medical fitness, accreditation, and compliance with residency or visa requirements.
