Job Overview: The IOM PSU Consultant will play a crucial role in providing program support services that contribute to the implementation and development of IOM Poland's activities aimed at supporting refugees and migrants. This consultancy encompasses a range of responsibilities including program coordination, research, reporting, partnership support, and operational assistance. The consultant will work under the direct supervision of the National Programme Officer and will coordinate closely with Programme Managers and relevant program teams to ensure effective delivery of services and support to the organization's mission.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be tasked with preparing background papers, briefing notes, talking points, presentations, concept notes, and other program documentation. They will draft, edit, and format reports, proposals, and program documentation, ensuring clarity and adherence to IOM standards. Conducting research and compiling information on migration, humanitarian assistance, integration, and social cohesion will be essential. The consultant will support partnership development and external engagement activities, which may involve liaising with Korean stakeholders, academic institutions, and private sector partners. Additionally, they will organize and coordinate meetings, workshops, donor visits, and events, including preparing agendas, taking minutes, providing translation, and managing logistical arrangements. Collecting, organizing, and analyzing program information and data to support program implementation and reporting will also be part of their responsibilities. The consultant will assist with visibility, outreach, and public information activities as required and provide administrative and operational support for program development and implementation. Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in International Relations, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or another relevant discipline from an accredited academic institution. Experience in supporting humanitarian, migration, international development, or international cooperation programs is desirable. Strong research, analytical, and drafting skills are essential, along with experience in program coordination or project implementation. Familiarity with international organizations, government institutions, or NGOs is also advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate excellent analytical, writing, and organizational skills, as well as strong interpersonal and coordination abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is required, along with the ability to work independently while maintaining close coordination with program teams and managing multiple assignments effectively.
Educational Background: A university degree in a relevant field such as International Relations, Development Studies, or Social Sciences is required. This educational background should be from an accredited academic institution, ensuring that candidates have the foundational knowledge necessary for the role.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have experience supporting humanitarian, migration, international development, or international cooperation programs. Experience in program coordination or project implementation is considered an advantage. Candidates should also have experience working with international organizations, government institutions, or NGOs, which will enhance their understanding of the operational context in which IOM functions.
Languages: Fluency in Korean and English (both written and spoken) is mandatory for this consultancy. The proficiency in these languages will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments to ensure candidates can effectively communicate in both languages.
Additional Notes: IOM provides coverage for consultants against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan (CP) at no cost for the duration of the consultancy. However, IOM does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for non-occupational accidents and illnesses, and consultants are responsible for their own medical insurance for such cases. Candidates must provide written proof of medical coverage before commencing work.
