Job Overview:
The Digital Economies Analyst position is crucial for supporting the implementation and coordination of digital payment initiatives and blockchain-enabled development solutions within the UNDP's broader digital economy agenda. The role involves working closely with various teams, including the Sustainable Finance Hub and the Alternative Finance Lab, to ensure alignment with UNDP's strategic priorities. The analyst will be responsible for providing operational support to multiple UNDP Country Offices, facilitating research on digital economies, and contributing to the SDG Blockchain Accelerator. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and collaboration with diverse stakeholders to drive the successful deployment of digital payment solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Digital Economies Analyst will have a range of responsibilities, including:
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master's degree or equivalent) in relevant fields such as Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, Political Sciences, Social Sciences, or Health Science. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) combined with two years of qualifying experience will be considered. Additionally, candidates should have experience in financial technologies, digital transformation, and stakeholder engagement within blockchain ecosystems. Familiarity with UNDP or UN organizations is preferred, along with experience in implementing capacity-building initiatives.
Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (master's degree or equivalent) in Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, Political Sciences, Social Sciences, Health Science, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the aforementioned areas, combined with an additional two years of qualifying experience, will also be considered in lieu of the advanced degree.
Experience:
For applicants with a master's degree, professional work experience is not required. However, those with a bachelor's degree must have a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in financial technologies. Desired skills include experience with digital transformation on a national level, partnership engagement with blockchain ecosystems, and implementing hackathons or capacity-building initiatives.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, but English proficiency is essential for effective communication within the organization and with stakeholders.

The Digital Economies Analyst will have a range of responsibilities, including:
- Supporting UNDP Country Offices in implementing blockchain-based digital payment solutions by providing operational support to at least 5 Country Offices in the Europe and CIS region and 8 globally.
- Coordinating with solution makers, country office teams, and government actors to resolve implementation barriers and maintain deployment momentum.
- Tracking pilot project progress against milestones, identifying risks, and escalating issues as necessary.
- Identifying additional Country Offices facing similar payment challenges and assessing their suitability for replicating validated models.
- Developing replication packages for various payment categories and enabling knowledge exchange through documentation of technical designs and operational procedures.
- Facilitating applied research on blockchain-enabled digital economies and digital payment solutions, ensuring alignment with national development frameworks.
- Leading impact assessments and identifying UN programmes that can pilot blockchain solutions.
- Contributing to the SDG Blockchain Accelerator by co-creating curriculum, supporting participant selection, and matchmaking between country offices and solution makers.
- Ensuring knowledge building and sharing by organizing training and synthesizing lessons learned.
