Job Overview: The National Intern for Child Protection will be positioned within the Child Protection Section, working under the supervision of the Child Protection Officer. The intern's primary responsibilities will include providing translation services, assisting with administrative tasks, and supporting the international consultant and Child Protection team in various projects. This role is crucial for the review and update of the existing Prakas, which defines the positions, functions, professional standards, roles, and responsibilities of social service workforces. The intern will also help in organizing national and subnational consultations to gather feedback on the Royal Decree draft, ensuring that the voices of stakeholders are heard and incorporated into the final documents. The intern will be expected to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining a high level of attention to detail, demonstrating strong organizational and communication skills, and showing a commitment to UNICEF's mission and values.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the international consultant with translation services for the Royal Decree on the establishment of a Social Service Workforce Board.
Provide administrative support to the Child Protection team, including documentation, coordination, and consolidation of information for the review and update of the Prakas.
Support national and subnational consultations by collecting and summarizing feedback on the Royal Decree draft.
Assist in drafting and finalizing the second version of the Royal Decree and knowledge paper, incorporating feedback from consultations.
Provide administrative support to output 2, including translation, preparing correspondence, meeting notes, and documentation.
Support filing, archiving, and document management to ensure efficient information retrieval and organization.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be currently enrolled in at least the 3rd year of study or recently graduated in Social Work, Law, or a related field. Proficiency in both English and Khmer (written and spoken) is essential. Strong organizational and communication skills are required, along with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. An interest in regulatory framework development concerning the social service workforce is also necessary, as is a commitment to UNICEF's mission and values.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should have a background in Social Work, Law, or a related field, with at least three years of academic study completed or recent graduation. This educational foundation will provide the necessary knowledge and skills to engage effectively in the tasks associated with child protection and social service workforce development.
Experience: While specific prior experience is not mandatory, any relevant internships or volunteer work in social services, child protection, or related fields will be considered an asset. The intern should demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to the dynamic environment of UNICEF's operations.
Languages: Proficiency in English and Khmer is mandatory, as the intern will be required to perform translation tasks and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Additional language skills may be considered a plus but are not required.
Additional Notes: The internship is a full-time position lasting for 6 months, from October 2026 to February 2027, with working hours from Monday to Friday, totaling 8 hours per day. Flexible working hours may be arranged with supervisor approval. The intern will receive a monthly stipend of USD 300, with a one-time reimbursement of up to USD 100 for insurance. UNICEF will provide necessary equipment, such as laptops and office space, and reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities.
