Job Overview:
The position of Consultant National in Charge of Evaluating Participation is crucial for analyzing and enhancing the participation of girls and women in industrial sectors within technical education in Ivory Coast. The consultant will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the barriers that hinder women's participation in these fields, particularly focusing on structural, institutional, pedagogical, and socio-cultural obstacles. The role involves assessing the integration of gender equality in educational curricula and teaching methods, as well as analyzing the learning environment for female students. The consultant will also identify opportunities in key sectors such as technology and green economy, and propose actionable recommendations to improve access, retention, and professional integration for young women. This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders and the organization of validation workshops to ensure that the findings and recommendations are effectively communicated and implemented.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Analyze the structural, institutional, pedagogical, socio-economic, and socio-cultural barriers affecting the participation of girls and women in industrial sectors of technical education in Ivory Coast.
• Evaluate the incorporation of gender equality in curricula, training references, teaching methods, and educational materials, identifying any gender stereotypes present.
• Assess the learning environment for girls, including classroom conditions, access to equipment, and relationships among students, teachers, and support staff.
• Identify and analyze opportunities in promising sectors such as digital technology, mining, and green economy in relation to labor market needs and employment prospects in Ivory Coast.
• Propose recommendations to create favorable conditions for the participation of young girls and women in industrial fields, enhancing their access and retention while ensuring their employability and economic empowerment.
• Organize a validation workshop with key stakeholders to discuss results and recommendations.
• Develop a project document aimed at strengthening the participation of young girls and women in industrial sectors and their economic empowerment.

Required Qualifications:

• Proven experience of at least 5 years in research, analysis, and report writing.
• Strong background in conducting consultations, interviews, validation workshops, and stakeholder engagement, particularly with public institutions, training establishments, the private sector, and civil society organizations.
• Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data, presenting results and recommendations effectively.
• Good understanding of issues related to technical and vocational education, professional integration, women's entrepreneurship, and economic empowerment in Ivory Coast.
• Demonstrated experience in gender-related missions, particularly in analyzing inequalities, stereotypes, and barriers to women's and girls' participation.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in Development Economics, Education Economics, Gender and Development, Sociology, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background is essential to understand the complexities of gender issues and the socio-economic factors affecting women's participation in various sectors.

Experience:
The consultant must have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in research, analysis, and report writing. This experience should include a solid track record in conducting consultations and engaging with various stakeholders, including public institutions and civil society. The consultant should also have a good understanding of the challenges related to technical education and women's empowerment in the context of Ivory Coast.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of English or another UN language is considered an asset but is not a requirement.

Additional Notes:
This is a home-based consultancy position in Ivory Coast. The consultant will participate in virtual or in-person coordination meetings with UN Women as needed. Any travel within the country will be covered by UN Women. The selected consultant is responsible for obtaining their own medical insurance for the duration of the contract, which should include international coverage if applicable. The contract will include all costs, and no additional benefits will be provided beyond the agreed remuneration.
