Job Overview:
The role of the Online Volunteers is to support IOM in assessing how migration considerations are integrated into business and investment assessments under the EU investment agenda. This involves analyzing existing frameworks and reporting mechanisms to identify how issues such as labor mobility, migrant workers, and displacement are addressed. The volunteers will engage in research and analysis, working closely with the Senior Partnerships Officer to develop a comprehensive understanding of the current landscape regarding migration and investment. The findings from this assessment will be crucial in identifying gaps and opportunities for IOM to enhance its engagement with various stakeholders, including governments and financial institutions, thereby promoting the importance of migration in economic discussions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Online Volunteers will be responsible for several key tasks:

• Collaborating to define the scope, research questions, and methodology for the analysis;
• Identifying and compiling relevant documents and credible sources as directed by the Senior Partnership Officer;
• Conducting thorough desk-based research to evaluate how migration-related issues are represented in the selected documents;
• Creating and maintaining an Excel database to summarize findings based on agreed analytical criteria;
• Analyzing the prevalence and depth of migration mainstreaming across various document categories, identifying trends and gaps;
• Preparing a concise analytical report that outlines the findings, including the frequency of migration considerations and their incorporation into assessments;
• Developing a short presentation that summarizes the methodology, key findings, and implications of the analysis. The volunteers will work collaboratively to review and code approximately 1,150 assessments, ensuring a balanced workload based on the agreed methodology.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong research and analytical skills, with a proven ability to synthesize complex information into clear and concise reports. Excellent writing skills are essential, as the role involves preparing analytical documents and presentations. Familiarity with migration issues, investment frameworks, and sustainability reporting is highly desirable. The ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting is also crucial, as the volunteers will be coordinating closely with the Senior Partnerships Officer and each other.

Educational Background:
A background in social sciences, economics, international relations, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have a solid understanding of migration issues and their implications for economic and social policies. Relevant coursework or experience in research methodologies and data analysis will be beneficial.

Experience:
While specific years of experience are not mandated, candidates should demonstrate relevant experience in research, analysis, or related fields. Previous involvement in projects focusing on migration, investment, or sustainability reporting will be advantageous. The role is suitable for individuals looking to gain practical experience in a reputable international organization.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all documentation and communication will be conducted in this language. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly French or Dutch, would be considered an asset, given the context of the EU and Belgium.
