Job Overview:
The UNDP Program Governance Associate position is designed to support the Governance portfolio within the UNDP Senegal Country Office, contributing to the broader United Nations efforts towards achieving SDG 16, which focuses on peace, justice, and strong institutions. The role involves working closely with national institutions, local authorities, civil society, and other UN agencies to promote inclusive and effective governance, strengthen access to justice, and advance gender equality and human rights. The position is based in Diamniadio, where the UN Volunteer will join a multidisciplinary team that combines policy support, program implementation, monitoring, and partnership engagement. Duties and Responsibilities:
The UN Volunteer will undertake several key tasks under the direct supervision of the Team Leader of the Governance Unit. These include supporting the day-to-day implementation and coordination of program activities related to democratic governance, access to justice, decentralization, local development, and gender equality. The volunteer will assist in preparing and updating annual work plans, activity plans, concept notes, and other program documents in line with UNDP procedures. Additionally, the role involves collecting, organizing, and analyzing program information and data to support monitoring and reporting efforts. The volunteer will also coordinate with national institutions, local authorities, civil society organizations, and development partners, assisting in logistical preparations for workshops and consultations. Knowledge management is another critical aspect of the role, where the volunteer will document lessons learned and good practices from governance interventions. The volunteer will also contribute to maintaining organized program records and files, ensuring compliance with UNDP management requirements, and performing any other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications:

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, as it is the official language of Senegal. Proficiency in English is also desirable, particularly for international and professional interactions. Knowledge of Wolof, the widely spoken local language, would be beneficial but is not mandatory.
