Job Overview:
The Cleaner position is crucial for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness within the offices and buildings of the Danish Refugee Council. The role involves ensuring that all areas are kept clean and hygienic, which is essential for the well-being of staff and visitors. The Cleaner will be responsible for following a cleaning schedule, using the appropriate cleaning equipment, and ensuring that all supplies are adequately stocked. This position requires attention to detail and the ability to manage time effectively to meet the cleaning needs of the organization. The Cleaner will also be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of kitchens and bathrooms, ensuring that all areas are welcoming and functional for staff and guests.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Cleaner will have a variety of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to:
  • Timely and thorough cleaning of offices, buildings, and guesthouses.
  • Regular maintenance and servicing of cleaning equipment to ensure it is in good working condition.
  • Adhering to a cleaning schedule and using supplied equipment effectively.
  • Checking bathrooms and offices to ensure they are stocked with necessary supplies such as toilet paper and tissue paper.
  • Washing office linens, towels, and clothes as requested.
  • Ensuring that food utilities such as tea, coffee, and milk are available and stocked.
  • Reporting any shortages or issues to the administration.
  • Keeping office kitchens clean and well-equipped.
  • Daily procurement of groceries for the kitchen. 1
  • Responsible for washing dishes in the kitchen. 1
  • Ensuring tea thermoses are filled with water. 1
  • Cleaning office spaces, meeting rooms, stairways, and common areas. 1
  • Cleaning all bathrooms and their fixtures. 1
  • Cleaning balconies and windows (both internal and external). 1
  • Managing waste effectively. 1
  • Performing any other tasks assigned by the direct supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
To be considered for the Cleaner position, candidates must possess the following qualifications:
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional work experience in a similar role.
  • Basic reading and writing skills in Dari, which is essential for understanding instructions and communicating effectively in the workplace.
  • A strong commitment to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Good interpersonal skills to interact with staff and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes basic literacy skills, specifically the ability to read and write in Dari. This is important for following cleaning schedules, understanding instructions, and ensuring effective communication within the workplace.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of relevant professional work experience in cleaning or a similar role. This experience should demonstrate the ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in various settings, including offices and communal areas.

Languages:
The mandatory language for this position is Dari, as it is essential for communication and understanding within the organization. Proficiency in Dari will enable the Cleaner to follow instructions, interact with colleagues, and ensure that all cleaning tasks are completed effectively.
