Job Overview:
The IOM Project Associate for Hygiene/WASH will play a crucial role in the implementation of the hygiene promotion component of the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) program in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. This position requires the successful candidate to work under the direct supervision of the WASH Program Manager and in collaboration with the National Programme Officer (WASH). The role involves extensive field movement across various IOM camps, where the candidate will be responsible for monitoring hygiene promotion activities, supporting community engagement, and ensuring that all activities align with IOM and WASH sector guidelines. The candidate will also be expected to facilitate community participation, support capacity building efforts, and contribute to data collection and analysis to inform program improvements.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the IOM Project Associate include assisting in the monitoring of hygiene promotion and community engagement activities, supporting camp staff in planning and executing hygiene promotion activities, conducting regular field visits to monitor construction work, facilitating community participation in WASH program implementation, supporting field staff in community awareness programs, collaborating in capacity building efforts, contributing to data collection and analysis, supporting behavioral research and surveys, providing guidance to IOM staff and partners, preparing progress reports, facilitating the formation of community WASH committees, assisting in stock management of WASH non-food items, engaging in technical working groups, and performing any other responsibilities assigned by management.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in public health, community development, environmental science, or a related field from an accredited institution, along with at least three years of field experience in a similar role. Alternatively, candidates with a school diploma and five years of relevant experience will also be considered. Proven experience in hygiene promotion, community engagement, and behavior change interventions is essential, preferably in humanitarian or refugee camp settings. Experience working with local communities and training community members is also required, along with familiarity with WASH interventions and coordination with various partners.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in a relevant field such as public health, community development, or environmental science. Candidates with a school diploma and extensive relevant experience may also be considered. The educational qualifications should be from an accredited academic institution, ensuring that candidates have the necessary theoretical knowledge to support their practical experience in the field.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of three years of proven experience in hygiene promotion, community engagement, or behavior change interventions, ideally within humanitarian or refugee camp settings. Experience in planning, implementing, and monitoring hygiene-related activities with local communities and community volunteers is crucial. Additionally, candidates should have experience in training and capacity building of community members and volunteers on hygiene practices and participatory approaches. Familiarity with WASH interventions and experience working with international humanitarian organizations or NGOs in multicultural settings will be advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Bangla is required for this position. Knowledge of Chittagonian or Rohinga languages is considered advantageous, as it may facilitate better communication with local communities and enhance the effectiveness of community engagement efforts.

This position is open to both internal and external female candidates, who will be considered as first-tier candidates. The appointment is subject to funding confirmation and is specifically open to Bangladesh nationals.
