The position of Sustainable Commodity Value Chain Specialist is integral to UNDP Ghana's efforts in promoting sustainable agricultural practices and enhancing commodity value chains. Duties and Responsibilities:
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong understanding of sustainable agricultural practices and value chain development. They should have experience in project management, stakeholder engagement, and knowledge of environmental challenges related to agriculture. Proficiency in data analysis and reporting is essential, along with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to sustainable development and possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in environmental science, agriculture, development studies, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may enhance the candidate's qualifications for the role.
Experience:
Candidates should have at least 3-5 years of relevant experience in sustainable agriculture, natural resource management, or related fields. Experience working with international organizations, government agencies, or NGOs in Ghana or similar contexts is highly desirable. Familiarity with the agricultural landscape in Ghana, particularly in relation to cocoa, shea, soybean, and cashew, will be an advantage.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the official language of Ghana and widely spoken. Knowledge of local languages may be beneficial but is not required.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the Implementation of Sustainable Commodity Programmes: Provide technical and coordination support to ongoing projects related to cocoa, shea, and soybean value chains. Implement activities related to climate-smart agriculture, agroforestry, and sustainable land management. Strengthen community governance systems for sustainable resource management and assist in preparing and monitoring annual workplans and project delivery targets. Conduct field visits to project sites for implementation and stakeholder engagement.
- Support Development of a Sustainable Cashew Programme: Analyze and map the cashew value chain in Ghana, identifying production systems, market opportunities, and environmental challenges. Facilitate stakeholder consultations and contribute to the preparation of project documents and resource mobilization efforts for cashew-related interventions.
- Support Value Chain Development and Private Sector Engagement: Collaborate with the Innovative Finance and Inclusive Growth Cluster to develop public-private partnerships and innovative financing pathways. Engage with private sector actors and producer organizations to enhance economic opportunities across targeted value chains.
- Monitoring, Reporting, and Knowledge Management: Collect and analyze project data, prepare technical and donor reports, and develop case studies and knowledge products documenting best practices in sustainable commodity development.
