Job Posting Organization: UNICEF, established in 1946, operates in over 190 countries and territories with a mission to save children's lives, defend their rights, and help them fulfill their potential. The organization is committed to promoting the rights of every child and offers diverse opportunities for professional and personal development. UNICEF employs a large workforce dedicated to serving children and communities globally, fostering a culture of belonging and growth.
Job Overview: The consultancy aims to enhance the availability, quality, harmonization, and utilization of nutrition data for global analysis, reporting, and decision-making. This role is crucial in establishing the foundational data necessary to leverage automation and artificial intelligence (AI) for nutrition data management, analysis, and visualization. The consultant will work on consolidating, managing, and analyzing nutrition data to generate timely and robust evidence for program decision-making, advocacy, resource mobilization, and global reporting. The current challenge is the fragmentation of relevant nutrition information across various sources, formats, and systems, which limits systematic analyses across different countries and contexts. The consultancy will focus on developing two complementary databases: one for nutrition assessments and situation data, and another for wasting programming data, thereby enabling systematic analysis of needs, targets, reach, coverage, and program performance over time and across various contexts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop a Comprehensive Wasting Programming Database that consolidates historical data on Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) and Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM) burden estimates, program targets, and key program monitoring indicators.
Create a Nutrition Assessments Database that compiles results from SMART surveys and IPC Acute Malnutrition analyses, providing a structured repository of historical and current information on nutrition situations.
Provide leadership and technical contributions to the Global Report on Food Crises (GRFC) focusing on the nutrition component.
Contribute to the CNR 2027 regarding Wasting Programming, ensuring that the databases are aligned with global standards and practices.
Collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure the databases are user-friendly and accessible for analysis and reporting.
Required Qualifications:
A Master's degree in Nutrition, Epidemiology, Public Health, Statistics, or a related field.
Proven experience in data management and database development.
Strong analytical skills with experience in conducting nutrition surveys and IPC AMN analyses.
Proficiency in Excel and statistical software such as R, Stata, or Python.
Demonstrated experience contributing to the Global Report on Food Crises and related nutrition analyses.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Master's degree in a relevant field such as Nutrition, Epidemiology, Public Health, or Statistics. This educational background is essential to ensure a strong foundation in the principles and practices necessary for effective nutrition data management and analysis.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience, particularly in the field of Nutrition. Candidates should have substantial experience in nutrition information management, data management, and database development, as well as a proven track record in conducting nutrition surveys and analyses.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not explicitly required.
Additional Notes: The consultancy is expected to provide a comprehensive compensation and benefits package, including paid parental leave, breastfeeding breaks, and reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities. UNICEF promotes a diverse and inclusive work environment and encourages applications from all qualified candidates, regardless of gender, nationality, or background. The organization adheres to a zero-tolerance policy regarding conduct incompatible with its objectives, including discrimination and abuse. All selected candidates will undergo rigorous background checks, and UNICEF is committed to safeguarding the rights of children.
