Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
UNICEF, established in 1946, operates in over 190 countries and territories with a mission to save children's lives, defend their rights, and help them fulfill their potential. The organization is committed to promoting the rights of every child, ensuring their survival, development, protection, and participation. UNICEF employs a diverse workforce dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children and communities worldwide, offering opportunities for professional and personal development.

Job Overview:
The Young Professionals Programme at UNICEF Thailand provides students and recent graduates with a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in the development and humanitarian sector. Participants will work closely with experienced professionals, engaging in hands-on assignments that contribute to UNICEF's mission. The program is designed to help young professionals build skills that support their academic progress and future career development. The focus areas include digital content creation, digital advocacy, volunteer engagement, and knowledge management. This structured program lasts for 4 to 6 months, allowing participants to work part-time (15-20 hours per week) with flexible arrangements to accommodate their academic schedules.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Young Professionals will be involved in various activities, including:
  • Developing and publishing digital content on UNICEF's platforms, such as social media and the website.
  • Supporting public advocacy campaigns by brainstorming and creating content aimed at effectively reaching youth and other audiences.
  • Assisting with community management and activities for the I Am UNICEF volunteer platform.
  • Facilitating administrative procedures relevant to organizing and documenting volunteer or youth events.
  • Supporting knowledge management efforts, including archive management and organizing sessions on various topics.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be enrolled university students (third-year or above) or recent graduates in relevant fields such as communications, social sciences, international relations, or digital media. They should demonstrate a strong interest in children's rights, development, or humanitarian work, possess strong communication and writing skills in both Thai and English, and have familiarity with digital platforms and social media. A willingness to learn and work in a multicultural environment is essential.

Educational Background:
The position requires candidates to be enrolled in a university program or to have recently graduated in a relevant field. This includes disciplines such as communications, social sciences, international relations, and digital media, which are crucial for understanding the context and challenges faced in the humanitarian sector.

Experience:
While specific prior experience is not mandatory, candidates should demonstrate a keen interest in children's rights and humanitarian work. Experience in digital media or advocacy campaigns would be beneficial but is not a strict requirement. The program is designed for students and recent graduates, thus focusing on providing practical experience rather than requiring extensive professional backgrounds.

Languages:
Strong communication skills in both Thai and English are mandatory for this position. Familiarity with additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse communities and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The Young Professionals Programme is a part-time commitment of 15-20 hours per week, with flexible working arrangements to accommodate academic schedules. Participants will receive hands-on mentorship, exposure to UNICEF's work, and a certificate of completion recognizing their contributions. The program emphasizes UNICEF's core values of Care, Respect, Integrity, Trust, Accountability, and Sustainability (CRITAS). Candidates should be aware that UNICEF has a zero-tolerance policy regarding misconduct and adheres to strict child safeguarding principles. Background checks will be conducted for selected candidates, and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for the next stage of the selection process.
