Job Overview:
The position of National Consultant for Digital Communications and Visibility Services is primarily focused on supporting the UNGA 81 YPS Side Event titled 'Rooting and Rising: Liberia's Vision for Youth'. The consultant will be responsible for enhancing the visibility of the event through effective digital communication strategies. This role requires a deep understanding of digital media, communication techniques, and the ability to engage with various stakeholders. The consultant will work closely with UNDP to ensure that the event's objectives are met and that the messaging aligns with UNDP's mission and values. The assignment is expected to last for 22 working days over a period of 6 weeks, during which the consultant will develop and implement a comprehensive digital communication plan that includes social media engagement, content creation, and visibility strategies tailored to the target audience.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the National Consultant include but are not limited to:
  • Developing a digital communication strategy for the UNGA 81 YPS Side Event that aligns with UNDP's goals.
  • Creating engaging content for various digital platforms, including social media, websites, and newsletters.
  • Managing social media accounts related to the event, ensuring timely updates and interactions with followers.
  • Collaborating with UNDP staff and other stakeholders to gather information and insights for content development.
  • Monitoring and analyzing the effectiveness of digital communication efforts, providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensuring that all communications adhere to UNDP branding and messaging guidelines.
  • Preparing reports on the digital communication activities and their impact on the event's visibility.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following qualifications:
  • Proven experience in digital communications, social media management, and content creation.
  • Strong understanding of communication strategies and tools, particularly in the context of international development.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce high-quality content for diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with digital analytics tools to measure the effectiveness of communication efforts.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and engage with various stakeholders effectively.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field. A Master's degree in a relevant discipline would be an advantage and may be preferred for this role, reflecting a higher level of expertise in digital communications and visibility services.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in digital communications, public relations, or a related field. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of development projects, is highly desirable. The candidate should demonstrate a track record of successful digital campaigns and the ability to adapt strategies to different cultural contexts.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication for this position. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly local languages spoken in Liberia, would be considered an asset and could enhance the consultant's ability to engage with a broader audience.
