Job Overview:
The CFSVA Lead Analyst will play a crucial role in leading the design and implementation of the Comprehensive Food Security and Vulnerability Assessment (CFSVA) for 202

• This position requires a strong technical background in food security assessments, as the analyst will be responsible for developing the assessment protocol, analytical framework, and quality assurance systems. The role involves collaboration with government counterparts, UN agencies, and NGOs to ensure effective planning and execution of the assessment. The analyst will also be tasked with strengthening various tools related to food security, nutrition, and livelihoods, and will oversee training and fieldwork quality assurance. The position demands a high level of analytical skills to integrate various data sources and conduct trend analyses to inform evidence-based decision-making for humanitarian assistance and resilience programming.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership for the CFSVA 2026 assessment design, including the review and refinement of the assessment protocol, analytical framework, indicator matrix, sampling approach, survey plan, and quality assurance system.
• Collaborate closely with government counterparts, UN agencies, and other NGOs to support effective planning, implementation, and monitoring of CFSVA activities.
• Enhance household, community, key informant, market, and trader tools that cover food security, nutrition, livelihoods, shocks, climate risk, social protection, and Market Functionality Index modules.
• Support training, pilot testing, and fieldwork quality assurance, including reviewing dashboards, GPS points, survey duration, missing values, back-checks, and consistency checks, and recommend corrective actions as necessary.
• Develop and document the data cleaning, weighting, and analysis plan, including statistical syntax, tabulation plans, and reproducible analytical outputs.
• Apply CARI classification and analyze food consumption, dietary diversity, nutrition indicators, expenditure, coping strategies, shocks, livelihoods, vulnerability profiles, market functionality, and food security outcomes.
• Integrate household, market, climate, and secondary data to identify drivers of food insecurity and vulnerability, including district mapping, market access, climate overlays, and hotspot identification.
• Conduct trend analysis using CFSVA 2020, FSMS, Cadre Harmonisé, and other relevant datasets, and develop evidence-based targeting criteria for assistance, nutrition support, resilience programming, and shock-responsive interventions.
• Prepare and present preliminary findings to WFP RAM, the Technical Working Group, Steering Committee, and national stakeholders, providing analytical inputs, tables, figures, maps, and interpretation notes for the final report. 1
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor in support of program and organizational objectives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced degree in Food Security, Economics, Statistics, Nutrition, Agricultural Economics, GIS, Data Science, or a related field. Additionally, candidates should have strong knowledge of WFP analytical frameworks and indicators, including CARI, FCS, HDDS, rCSI, expenditure analysis, livelihoods analysis, and MFI. Advanced proficiency in statistical software such as Stata, R, SPSS, or Python is essential, along with familiarity with ODK/Kobo or similar platforms. Experience with geospatial analysis, climate risk overlays, market access analysis, vulnerability mapping, multi-stakeholder coordination, and technical communication is also required.

Educational Background:
An advanced degree in a relevant field such as Food Security, Economics, Statistics, Nutrition, Agricultural Economics, GIS, Data Science, or a related discipline is mandatory for this position. This educational background is crucial as it provides the necessary theoretical foundation and analytical skills required for conducting complex assessments and analyses related to food security and vulnerability.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 8–10 years of progressively responsible experience in food security, vulnerability, livelihoods, nutrition, or market assessments. This includes demonstrated experience leading large-scale assessments such as CFSVA, FSMS, EFSA, SMART, MFI, HEA, or comparable assessments. Prior experience in Sierra Leone or West Africa is highly desirable, as it will provide valuable context and understanding of the local challenges and dynamics related to food security.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, but English is the primary language of communication within the organization and for the assessment processes.
