Job Overview:
The Energy Officer, India and Mission Efficiency will play a crucial role in supporting the design and implementation of energy efficiency interventions in India. This includes initiatives such as demand flexibility, appliance replacement programs, and building efficiency programs. The officer will work closely with government agencies, industry stakeholders, and technical partners to ensure effective collaboration and successful implementation of these programs. The position requires a strong focus on advancing national and state-level initiatives under the Mission Efficiency program, contributing to the development of energy efficiency action plans, and facilitating government engagement. The officer will also be responsible for preparing policy and technical briefs, developing data and analytics, and supporting resource mobilization efforts to scale energy efficiency investments in India. This role is essential for driving India's commitment to doubling energy efficiency and achieving sustainable development goals.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a First Level University Degree (Bachelor’s Degree) in Energy, Business Management, Policy, Development Economics, Engineering, or a related field. An Advanced Level Degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in a similar field is desirable and may compensate for some years of experience. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of experience in energy efficiency, demand-side management, or related areas, with a strong understanding of the technical and economic aspects of energy efficiency programs. Experience working with energy agencies and in policy and program development for energy efficiency is highly desirable.
Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a First Level University Degree (Bachelor’s Degree) in relevant fields such as Energy, Business Management, Policy, Development Economics, or Engineering. An Advanced Level Degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) is considered an asset and may offset some years of required experience, enhancing the candidate's qualifications for the role.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in energy efficiency, demand-side management, or related fields. Candidates should have experience in the technical and economic aspects of energy efficiency programs, as well as familiarity with working alongside energy agencies to implement energy efficiency initiatives. Desired experience includes policy and program development for energy efficiency and demand flexibility, as well as research experience in energy efficiency and sustainable development.
Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position, while proficiency in additional languages such as French, Spanish, Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, or Russian at an intermediate level is considered desirable. This multilingual capability can enhance communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders and partners involved in energy efficiency initiatives.
Additional Notes:
The position is a retainer contract with a duration of 12 months, allowing for a maximum of 144 working days. The role is home-based, providing flexibility in work location. - Supporting the assessment of demand flexibility potential and the development of ESCO markets.
- Designing and implementing cooling appliance replacement pilots and behavior change programs related to energy efficiency.
- Coordinating the delivery of energy efficiency programs and ensuring effective stakeholder engagement.
- Contributing to the creation of awareness-raising materials and knowledge documentation, including impact assessments.
- Representing SEforALL in key regional and national forums to showcase activities and impacts.
- Collaborating with various stakeholders, including government agencies and industry partners, to facilitate the implementation of energy efficiency initiatives.
