Consultant Architecte - UNIPOD

Job Overview:
The position of Consultant Architect for the UNIPOD project involves conducting architectural studies across five provinces in Madagascar. The consultant will be responsible for developing architectural designs and plans that align with the project’s objectives. This role requires a deep understanding of architectural principles and practices, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders. The consultant will be expected to deliver high-quality architectural solutions that meet the needs of the UNDP and the communities served by the project. The duration of the mission is four months, during which the consultant will engage in extensive fieldwork and consultations to gather necessary data and insights for the architectural studies.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive architectural studies for the UNIPOD project in five provinces of Madagascar.
• Develop architectural designs and plans that are sustainable and culturally appropriate.
• Collaborate with local stakeholders, including government officials and community members, to gather input and feedback on architectural proposals.
• Prepare detailed reports and presentations on architectural findings and recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with local building codes and regulations in all architectural designs.
• Provide technical guidance and support to the UNDP team throughout the project duration.
• Participate in project meetings and workshops to discuss progress and challenges.
• Submit all deliverables in a timely manner, adhering to the project timeline.

Required Qualifications:

• Proven experience in architectural design and project management.
• Strong knowledge of sustainable architecture and building practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Proficiency in architectural design software and tools.
• Familiarity with the local context and building regulations in Madagascar is an advantage.

Educational Background:
A degree in Architecture or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in architecture or project management are preferred. Continuous professional development in sustainable design practices is also beneficial.

Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in architectural design and project management is required. Experience working on international development projects, particularly in Madagascar or similar contexts, is highly desirable. The candidate should demonstrate a strong portfolio of completed architectural projects that reflect their expertise and creativity.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication for this project. Proficiency in English is also desirable, as it may be required for reporting and communication with international stakeholders. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Madagascar would be an asset.

Additional Notes:
This position is for an individual contractor, and firms are not eligible to apply. The contract duration is four months, and the consultant is expected to work full-time on this project. Compensation will be based on the consultant's qualifications and experience, and benefits will be outlined in the contract.
