Job Overview:
The WASH Program Manager (PM) is tasked with operationalizing SI's response in the Ulang area of South Sudan. This role is crucial for establishing SI’s operational presence and delivering timely, high-quality interventions that address urgent humanitarian needs in the WASH sector. The PM is responsible for ensuring that programs are designed, implemented, and monitored in accordance with donor requirements, organizational standards, and humanitarian principles. Additionally, the PM must build trusted relationships with local authorities, community representatives, and coordination partners to facilitate effective program delivery. The position requires a proactive approach to managing WASH interventions, particularly in response to emergencies such as disease outbreaks, natural disasters, and conflict situations.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background is required for this position, typically including a degree in a field related to water, sanitation, public health, or humanitarian studies. Advanced degrees or specialized training in WASH or emergency response will be considered an asset.
Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with a focus on WASH program management. Experience in similar roles, particularly in emergency contexts, is essential to ensure effective program delivery and adaptability to challenging conditions.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in Arabic is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with local communities and stakeholders.
Additional Notes:
This position is offered as a short-term contract with a duration of 6 months, starting as soon as possible. The role is based in Ulang, South Sudan, which presents unique living conditions, including basic accommodation in an NGO compound with limited comfort. The salary for this position starts from EUR 2100 gross per month, with additional benefits including a monthly per diem of USD 700, accommodation coverage, and travel expenses. Expatriates will also receive an insurance package covering healthcare expenses and essential vaccinations. The working conditions may be challenging, with limited access to amenities and a remote location with few other expatriates present.

- Monitor and evaluate program performance, ensuring that interventions are effective and meet quality standards.
- Prepare and submit reports to donors and stakeholders, detailing program progress, challenges, and outcomes.
- Manage the WASH team, providing guidance, support, and training to ensure high-quality program delivery.
- Engage with local authorities and community leaders to foster collaboration and support for WASH initiatives.
- Coordinate with other humanitarian actors to ensure a comprehensive response to the needs of the affected population.
- Ensure compliance with SI’s policies and procedures, as well as relevant humanitarian standards and guidelines.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess the following qualifications:
- A minimum of 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, specifically in WASH program management.
- Proven experience in similar positions, demonstrating the ability to manage complex projects in challenging environments.
- Strong technical skills in planning, implementing, and monitoring humanitarian projects, particularly in WASH.
- Experience in emergency response, with the ability to adapt interventions to rapidly changing situations.
- Excellent writing skills for technical and project management documents, including the ability to develop technical Bills of Quantities (BoQs).
- Knowledge of distribution, cash, and non-food item (NFI) interventions is highly desirable.
