Job Overview:
The position of Individual Consultant – Fire Alarm System Design Expert involves providing expert consultancy services to design a comprehensive Fire Alarm and Detection System, as well as a Fire Evacuation Plan for the UN House in Lesotho. The consultant will be responsible for assessing the current fire safety measures, identifying potential risks, and developing a detailed design that meets international safety standards. This role requires a thorough understanding of fire safety regulations and the ability to create effective evacuation strategies. The consultant will work closely with UNDP staff and stakeholders to ensure that the design is practical, efficient, and tailored to the specific needs of the UN House. The assignment is expected to last for a period of three months, during which the consultant will deliver a complete design package that includes technical specifications, drawings, and implementation guidelines.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a relevant educational background, specifically a bachelor's degree in Fire Safety Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field. Advanced degrees or specialized training in fire safety design will be considered an asset. Continuous professional development in fire safety regulations and technologies is also encouraged.
Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in fire safety design, specifically in the development of fire alarm and detection systems. Experience working with international organizations or in a consultancy capacity is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate a track record of successfully completed projects that involved fire safety assessments and system designs.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all documentation and communication will be conducted in English. Knowledge of Sesotho or other local languages is considered an advantage, as it may facilitate better communication with local stakeholders and enhance the consultant's effectiveness in the role.
Additional Notes:
This consultancy position is for a fixed term of three months, with the possibility of extension based on project needs and performance. The consultant will be expected to work full-time during the assignment period. The position is open to both national and international candidates, and compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
