Job Overview:
The Financial Analyst Consultant will work within the Delivery Unit, which has dual reporting to both the Corporates Division and the Caribbean Division. The Corporates Division is responsible for leading operations in sectors such as agribusiness, manufacturing, tourism, and the digital economy, while the Caribbean Division manages client engagement and oversight within its member countries. The role involves conducting project feasibility assessments, analyzing financial statements, developing financial models, and maintaining client relationships to support lending and investment projects. The consultant will also assist in preparing detailed project reports and presentations, ensuring that projects align with established agreements and contractual conditions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Financial Analyst Consultant will be tasked with several key responsibilities, including:
  • Conducting project feasibility assessments for lending and investment projects by researching prospective project sponsors and gathering relevant market, industry, and financial data.
  • Reviewing and analyzing financial statements and developing financial models to evaluate financial information and support management decision-making.
  • Participating in appraisal missions to gather necessary technical, legal, economic, and financial information for assessing potential projects.
  • Establishing and maintaining quality client relationships to enhance new business opportunities.
  • Assisting in the development of detailed post-appraisal project reports, compiling data, conducting analyses, and preparing reports on capital costs, financing plans, and legal considerations.
  • Assisting with disbursements for approved projects by verifying compliance with contractual conditions.
  • Supervising approved projects to ensure they develop according to agreements.
  • Preparing PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets, and other business-related reports required by the Delivery Unit.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related fields. Additionally, they should have between two to four years of progressive experience in loan origination, structuring, or portfolio management, preferably within an investment bank, commercial bank, or developmental bank. Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills are highly desirable, as they will be critical in evaluating financial information and supporting decision-making processes.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background provides the necessary foundation for understanding financial principles, economic theories, and business management practices, which are essential for the role of a Financial Analyst Consultant.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have between two and four years of relevant experience in the financial sector, specifically in areas such as loan origination, structuring, or portfolio management. This experience should ideally be gained in an investment bank, commercial bank, or developmental bank, where the candidate has demonstrated a proven track record of working with both equity and debt instruments.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, along with proficiency in one of the other official languages of the Bank, which include Spanish, French, or Portuguese. This bilingual capability is essential for effective communication within the diverse operational context of IDB Invest.

This position is for a national consultant on a full-time basis, with a contract duration of 36 months, extendable up to 48 months if applicable.
