Job Overview:
The Associate will play a crucial role in supporting CHAI's Market Shaping cluster, focusing on accelerating access to new health products in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). This position involves engaging in market analysis, supply-side engagement, and providing country-level support. The role is designed for individuals with strong analytical skills and intellectual curiosity, who are eager to tackle complex problems in resource-limited settings. The Associate will be expected to contribute to various activities that enhance the availability and accessibility of health products, ensuring that CHAI's strategies are informed by comprehensive data and insights.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Associate's responsibilities will include supporting market shaping activities through research and landscape analyses, developing frameworks to assess new product opportunities, analyzing pricing, supply, and demand dynamics to inform CHAI's strategies and negotiations with manufacturers. The Associate will prepare presentations, reports, and data analyses to facilitate discussions at both global and country levels regarding product introductions. Coordination with CHAI country teams will be essential to track implementation progress, identify barriers, and synthesize learnings across different geographies. Additionally, the Associate will engage with supply-side stakeholders, prepare for manufacturer discussions, and monitor pipeline products. Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed, and the role may require up to 30% international travel.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree along with 4 to 6 years of relevant work experience. Experience in management consulting, strategy, or similar fast-paced environments is essential. Strong analytical skills are required, particularly the ability to work with both quantitative and qualitative data to derive insights and recommendations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary, as the Associate will need to prepare clear presentations and memos for diverse audiences. The ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and drive tasks forward with limited supervision is crucial. Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to operate effectively in dynamic, multicultural environments are also important. Technical proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint is required, and fluency in English (both written and verbal) is mandatory.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor's degree is required for this position, with a preference for candidates holding a Master's degree in Public Health (MPH), Business Administration (MBA), or another relevant discipline. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of global health and market dynamics.
Experience:
The position requires at least 4 to 6 years of relevant work experience. Candidates should have experience in management consulting, strategy, or similar environments that are fast-paced and results-oriented. Experience working in low- and middle-income countries or on global health issues is advantageous, as is familiarity with pharmaceutical, diagnostics, medical device, or other health product markets. Experience working with decentralized or cross-functional teams will also be beneficial.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, both in written and verbal communication. While English is the primary language required, additional language skills may be considered advantageous, particularly those relevant to the regions in which CHAI operates.
