Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is based in the Office of Inspections and Investigations (OIGI) at WFP's Rome headquarters. The intern will work under the direct supervision of an Investigations Officer in the Strategy and Litigation Support unit. The role is designed to provide practical experience in the field of investigations, particularly in relation to allegations of misconduct by WFP personnel and third parties. The intern will assist in various aspects of investigative work, including the technical review of investigation reports, legal research, and the development of internal frameworks for investigations. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain insight into the workings of a major international organization and to contribute to the integrity of its operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for assisting in the technical and quality review of investigation reports, ensuring accuracy and consistency in reporting, and reviewing the underlying evidence. They will conduct legal research, particularly within the internal frameworks of other UN agencies and administrative jurisprudence. The intern will also assist in the development of OIGI's investigative internal framework and support ongoing investigations, including preliminary assessments of complaints and other duties as required. This role requires attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be currently enrolled in or have recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program in Law or related fields from a recognized university. Experience in investigations is desirable, and candidates should have attended university courses within the past 12 months. Knowledge of general legal principles applicable to internal investigations is essential, along with the ability to write clearly and concisely, and strong research and analytical skills. The ability to work effectively in a diverse international environment is also crucial.

Educational Background:
A degree in Law or a related field from a recognized university is required. Candidates must either be currently enrolled in an academic program or have graduated within the last six months prior to applying for the internship. This educational background is essential to ensure that the intern has the necessary legal knowledge and skills to contribute effectively to the investigations team.

Experience:
While prior experience in investigations is desirable, it is not mandatory. The internship is primarily aimed at students or recent graduates who are looking to gain practical experience in the field of investigations within an international organization. Candidates should have a strong academic background and demonstrate a keen interest in legal and investigative work.

Languages:
Excellent written and spoken English is required, with a proficiency level of C. Knowledge of additional languages may be beneficial but is not mandatory for this position.   • Interns will receive a monthly stipend of up to US$1000, depending on the duty station. WFP does not cover living expenses, accommodation, or visa costs.
