Job Overview:
The position of Technical Advisor / Epidemiologist at CHAI is designed for a highly motivated individual with a strong background in public health and analytical skills. This role is pivotal in guiding operations for a cross-country disease elimination program, specifically targeting malaria and dengue in Asia. The successful candidate will lead a small team of epidemiologists, working closely with government counterparts to enhance disease surveillance systems, conduct data analysis, and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions aimed at malaria elimination and dengue control. Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Technical Advisor / Epidemiologist include serving as a technical leader for malaria and dengue initiatives, overseeing surveillance and analytics work, and providing expert advice on epidemiological matters. The role involves managing the implementation of analytics and surveillance projects, contributing to annual work plans, and conducting statistical analyses to inform decision-making. The candidate will also be responsible for monitoring and evaluating existing surveillance processes, ensuring high-quality guidelines and operational manuals, and supporting the development of country-led data analysis systems. Additionally, the role includes managing a team of junior epidemiologists, fostering collaboration with local academic institutions and NGOs, and representing CHAI at external technical meetings.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's or PhD in public health, epidemiology, or a related field, along with at least 5 years of relevant work experience that demonstrates increasing responsibility and leadership. Experience in mentoring and managing junior staff, designing and analyzing epidemiological surveys, and strengthening disease surveillance systems is essential. The ideal candidate should have exceptional skills in epidemiological data analysis, proficiency in statistical and geospatial analysis software, and the ability to work independently in diverse environments. Strong communication skills and a willingness to travel extensively are also required.
Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's or PhD in public health, epidemiology, or a related field.
