Job Overview:
The Fullstack Software Developer position at CERN is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about software development and open science. The role involves supporting the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) Federation and the EOSC Mesh project, which aims to create federated digital infrastructures for cross-linking research environments across Europe. As a full-stack developer, you will collaborate with project partners to develop cross-node federated analysis workflow infrastructure and support scientific use cases. You will also participate in the evolution of the CERN Node of the EOSC Federation, enabling researchers to analyze over 5 petabytes of open data from experimental particle physics. This position requires a strong commitment to collaborative open-source development and offers the chance to work closely with researchers on computational data analysis examples. Additionally, you will be involved in the operation and development of the REANA reproducible data analysis platform, contributing to service deployment, operations, and monitoring on the Kubernetes cloud.

Duties and Responsibilities:
As a Fullstack Software Developer, your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Collaborating with European Open Science Cloud project partners to develop cross-node federated analysis workflow infrastructure.
  • Supporting scientific use cases related to the EOSC Federation.
  • Participating in the evolution of the CERN Node of the EOSC Federation, facilitating access to extensive open data for researchers.
  • Contributing to the deployment, operations, and monitoring of services on the Kubernetes cloud.
  • Working closely with researchers to provide support for cross-node computational data analysis examples.
  • Participating in the operation and development of the REANA reproducible data analysis platform.
  • Engaging in collaborative open-source development and contributing to the overall mission of CERN.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Fullstack Software Developer position must meet the following qualifications:
  • Experience in full-stack software development, with proficiency in both frontend and backend software engineering technologies.
  • Familiarity with container technologies and application deployment, monitoring, and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security.
  • Basic understanding of computational research data analyses is a plus.
  • Prior experience working in European Commission co-funded projects is advantageous.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with a commitment to collaborative open-source development.
  • Spoken and written proficiency in English is mandatory, with a willingness to learn French.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field. Applicants without a university degree are not eligible for this position, and those with a PhD are also not eligible. Candidates must have graduated within the last two years to qualify for the role.

Experience:
The position requires a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in the relevant field. This ensures that candidates are recent graduates who are eager to apply their knowledge and skills in a practical setting at CERN.

Languages:
Proficiency in spoken and written English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to learning French, which is considered beneficial for effective communication within the organization.

Compensation includes a monthly net stipend ranging from 5266 to 5793 Swiss Francs, depending on the candidate's degree, along with 30 days of paid leave per year, comprehensive health insurance coverage, family allowances, and a relocation package based on individual circumstances.
