Job Overview:
The Finance and Administration Officer will play a crucial role in providing financial and administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of projects at the cluster level. This position involves managing day-to-day financial transactions, including payment documentation, filing, and recording in the SUN accounting system. The officer will also support project staff by ensuring compliance with VSO policies, quality assurance standards, donor requirements, and local legislation. The ideal candidate will contribute to high-quality program delivery by maintaining accurate financial records and facilitating effective communication between project teams and financial management.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must possess a bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. Additionally, candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant experience in finance and administration, preferably within donor-funded NGO or INGO programs. Strong skills in budgeting, financial reporting, compliance, cash management, and administration are essential. Proficiency in accounting systems such as SUN and Excel is also required, along with excellent organizational and communication skills.
Educational Background:
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a closely related field. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to perform the financial and administrative duties required for the position.
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in finance and administration is required. This experience should preferably be in donor-funded NGO or INGO programs, where the candidate has gained practical knowledge of financial management, compliance, and reporting processes. Experience with accounting systems, particularly SUN, is highly desirable, as is familiarity with financial regulations and standards in the NGO sector.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within VSO and with international partners. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Ethiopia would be an advantage, as it can facilitate better communication with local stakeholders and project beneficiaries.
Additional Notes:
The position is full-time and may involve working in various locations within Ethiopia, including Bahir Dar, Kombolcha, and Addis Ababa.
