Job Overview:
The Mixed Migration Assistant role is primarily focused on supporting DRC's protection monitoring activities for migrants and other individuals on the move in the regions of Taiz (Dhubab) and Lahj. This position is supervised by the Protection Team Leader and involves a combination of field-based protection monitoring and information management. The assistant will be responsible for safe and inclusive data collection, management, and analysis, as well as producing dashboards, reports, and other information products that inform program adaptations, referrals, coordination, and advocacy efforts. The role requires a commitment to protection principles and adherence to data protection standards, ensuring that all collected data is handled responsibly and ethically. The Mixed Migration Assistant will also engage with community members and stakeholders to gather insights and feedback, contributing to the overall effectiveness of DRC's protection initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Mixed Migration Assistant will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:

• Supporting the development, testing, updating, and roll-out of mixed-movement protection monitoring tools and methodologies as directed by the Protection Manager or Team Leader.
• Maintaining Kobo/ODK tools, trackers, and monitoring databases, ensuring proper version control and documentation.
• Consolidating data from various sources, including focus group discussions (FGDs), key informant interviews (KIIs), and direct observations.
• Conducting weekly data cleaning and validation in coordination with the Protection Team Leader.
• Monitoring and analyzing data to identify changes in migrant arrivals, routes, protection risks, and barriers to assistance.
• Producing monthly dashboards and statistical summaries, contributing to quarterly analytical reports and thematic briefs.
• Processing information for reports, briefings, and advocacy products as requested.
• Conducting regular field protection monitoring at migrant landing and transit locations, facilitating FGDs and KIIs with diverse groups.
• Maintaining communication with community focal points to identify emerging protection risks. 1
• Referring protection concerns and requests for assistance to designated DRC staff. 1
• Conducting routine data quality checks and providing support to staff on data management practices. 1
• Contributing to monitoring plans, activity tracking, and donor reporting. 1
• Ensuring adherence to DRC's policies and guidelines, including safeguarding and data protection protocols.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Mixed Migration Assistant position must possess a minimum of two years of practical experience in protection monitoring, information management, research, or migration programming, preferably within an NGO or humanitarian context. They should have a solid understanding of the protection risks affecting migrants in Yemen and practical experience in qualitative and quantitative data collection methods. Familiarity with data collection platforms such as Kobo Toolbox or ODK is essential, along with strong skills in data cleaning, validation, analysis, and visualization using MS Excel. Experience with analytical software like Power BI is considered a strong advantage. Candidates should also demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage respectfully with diverse groups, and a commitment to AGD mainstreaming and responsible information sharing.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's degree in information management, statistics, information systems, social sciences, development studies, protection, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of protection monitoring and information management in the context of mixed migration.

Experience:
The role requires a minimum of two years of relevant experience in protection monitoring, information management, or related fields. Candidates should have practical experience working with NGOs or humanitarian organizations, particularly in contexts involving migration and displacement. This experience should include familiarity with protection risks and challenges faced by migrants and other vulnerable populations.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is mandatory for this position, as is fluency in Arabic. Candidates must be able to read and write in both languages effectively, as communication with diverse stakeholders and communities will be a key aspect of the role.

Additional Notes:
The contract for this position is set to last until July 31, 2027, with an immediate start date. The duty station will be in Taiz (Dhubab) and Lahj. Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Danish Refugee Council’s National Terms of Employment.
