Job Overview:
The Electrical Technical Assistant position is crucial for ensuring the operational support and monitoring of the technical infrastructures at the United Nations House in Mali. This role is particularly significant in the context of the current energy challenges faced in the country. The Assistant will work under the direct supervision of the Facilities Management Analyst and will be responsible for daily operational support, including maintenance tasks, monitoring energy systems, and assisting external service providers on-site. The position requires a proactive approach to ensure the continuity of operations and the efficient functioning of energy systems, which are vital for the UN's mission in Mali.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Electrical Technical Assistant include:

• Daily physical and technical monitoring of the energy system, including conducting inspections of generators, solar hybrid systems, and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS).
• Performing daily readings of electricity meters and fuel levels in tanks, ensuring accurate recording of data in physical registers and dedicated Excel tracking files.
• Promptly reporting any anomalies such as unusual noises, leaks, voltage drops, or failures to the supervisor.
• Assisting during fuel deliveries by verifying quantities, checking quality, and ensuring compliance with safety standards during offloading.
• Executing preventive maintenance tasks and first-level maintenance operations, such as cleaning filters, replacing bulbs, checking oil/water levels, and performing minor plumbing and carpentry repairs.
• Preparing workspaces or equipment prior to the intervention of specialized service providers and monitoring external technicians during their work to ensure proper execution.
• Assisting in the relocation of furniture, office equipment, or materials during the setup of new spaces or reorganization of offices.
• Helping with the technical preparation of conference rooms, including the installation of projectors and checking sound and air conditioning systems.
• Participating in periodic physical inventories of materials and equipment at the United Nations House. 1
• Regularly checking the accessibility of emergency exits and the condition of fire extinguishers, ensuring cleanliness and safety in technical areas. 1
• Strictly adhering to safety protocols during technical interventions.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Electrical Technical Assistant position include:

• A secondary education level is required, or a university degree (Bachelor's) in engineering, civil engineering, urban and rural engineering, or a related field will be considered, although it is not mandatory.
• A technician diploma (BT2) would be an asset.
• At least 4 years of relevant experience in the field of electricity design, monitoring, and control of works is required with a secondary diploma, or 1 year of experience with a Bachelor's degree.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a minimum of a secondary education level. A university degree in engineering or a related field is preferred but not mandatory. A technician diploma (BT2) is considered an asset for this position.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in the electricity field if the candidate holds a secondary diploma. If the candidate has a Bachelor's degree, at least 1 year of relevant experience is required. This experience should include design, monitoring, and control of electrical works.

Languages:
The mandatory language for this position is French, as it is the primary language of communication in Mali. Proficiency in English is considered a good asset, as it may facilitate communication with international teams and stakeholders.
