Job Overview:
The position involves conducting a quantitative survey as part of a research study under the CGIAR Science Program on Multifunctional Landscapes. This study aims to assess the true costs associated with banana/plantain and cocoa production in the Ucayali region of Peru, focusing on external costs related to social and environmental factors. The survey implementer will be responsible for gathering data on economic status, agricultural practices, labor practices, food consumption, and dietary diversity among producers and farm workers. The role requires collaboration with local partners to select specific districts and villages for the survey, ensuring that the data collected will inform policy and investment recommendations for promoting agroecology and sustainable agri-food systems. The implementer will utilize computer-assisted personal interviewing (CAPI) methods to conduct face-to-face interviews with approximately 280 producers of each crop and 200 farm workers, with the fieldwork expected to be completed by October 31, 2026.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The selected firm will coordinate and conduct in-person household and worker surveys among banana/plantain and cocoa producers in the Ucayali region. Responsibilities include adapting and translating survey instruments, obtaining local ethics clearance and research permits, listing producing households, developing and finalizing the CAPI data entry program, preparing a field implementation manual, selecting and training enumerators, and ensuring smooth data collection operations. The firm must also provide regular updates during fieldwork, deliver cleaned datasets in Stata format, and submit a comprehensive report covering the fieldwork and data management issues. The firm is expected to hire local enumerators, ensure gender balance in the interviewing team, and maintain good relations with local communities and authorities throughout the survey process.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must demonstrate experience conducting quantitative survey fieldwork in Peru within the last five years, particularly in Amazonian regions.
