Job Overview:
The Specialist in Regenerative Agriculture and Responsible Sourcing will play a crucial role in leading the coordination, technical implementation, and scaling of projects related to regenerative agriculture and responsible sourcing in collaboration with private sector companies across Central, Bajío, and Western Mexico. This position is pivotal in driving CIMMYT's sustainability agenda within corn and alternative crop value chains. The specialist will work to strengthen rural agribusiness by improving market access and trade, ensuring that farmers and stakeholders benefit from sustainable practices. The role requires a high level of regional travel and engagement with various stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Specialist include coordinating the local execution of regenerative agriculture and sustainability projects, ensuring effective planning and implementation of scaling strategies that benefit farmers and stakeholders. Continuous monitoring of sustainability goals and indicators is essential, which involves supervising data collection in the field to ensure scientific rigor. The specialist will design and implement strategies for the long-term engagement of farmers in regenerative agriculture programs, exploring innovative contract farming schemes and financial models. Additionally, the role involves leading local governance of CIMMYT's project portfolio, strengthening relationships with key actors in agricultural value chains, and implementing capacity-building strategies for agribusinesses and rural enterprises. The specialist will also formulate proposals for new initiatives that align with corporate sustainability needs and ensure resource mobilization.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree in Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Sustainable Development, Environmental Sciences, or closely related fields. A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in coordinating agricultural projects and regenerative agriculture is required, along with demonstrable experience in developing agribusinesses and implementing business models. Understanding of inclusive financing tools, agricultural value chains, and corporate sustainability regulations is essential. Hands-on experience with greenhouse gas inventories and agricultural carbon accounting is also necessary. Proficiency in the MS Office suite and advanced data analysis tools is required, along with excellent communication skills in both Spanish and English.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree in relevant fields such as Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Sustainable Development, or Environmental Sciences. This advanced education is critical for understanding the complexities of agricultural systems and sustainability practices.

Experience:
