Job Overview: The position of Asset Liability Management (ALM) Senior Consultant is designed for a highly motivated and proactive individual who will play a crucial role in IDB Invest’s balance sheet management. The consultant will contribute to key ALM initiatives and take ownership of the day-to-day management and continuous enhancement of ALM activities. This includes managing market risk, liquidity risk, funds transfer pricing (FTP), and capital management. The consultant will work within the Treasury Division, which is part of the Finance and Administration department, and will report directly to the ALM team. The Treasury Division is responsible for executing IDB Invest’s borrowing, hedging, trading, and cash management activities, as well as overseeing the overall balance sheet management of IDB Invest. The role requires a strategic mindset and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure effective balance sheet management.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Asset Liability Management (ALM) Senior Consultant will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including leading or co-leading projects aimed at enhancing the balance sheet management framework of IDB Invest. This involves securing stakeholder alignment and obtaining institutional approvals for various initiatives. The consultant will contribute to the evolution of IDB Invest’s ALM practices, focusing on promoting efficiency and scalability while ensuring long-term sustainability. Acting as the technical lead in cross-functional working groups, the consultant will represent Treasury ALM and shape strategic discussions on ALM, capital management, and overall balance sheet management. Additionally, the consultant will support the implementation and enhancement of Treasury and ALM systems, data processes, governance documentation, policies, and reporting capabilities. They will perform analysis and monitoring of balance sheet risks, including interest rate risk, liquidity risk, foreign exchange risk, and earnings sensitivity. Conducting IRRBB analyses, scenario testing, stress testing, and other quantitative assessments will be essential to support strategy development and decision-making. The consultant will also maintain and enhance the Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) framework, develop and maintain quantitative models, analytical tools, dashboards, and automation solutions to strengthen ALM analytics and reporting. Furthermore, they will prepare recurring and ad hoc analyses, reports, presentations, and recommendations for ALCO and other governance committees, and collaborate with Treasury, Risk Management, Controllership, Technology, and business teams on balance sheet management initiatives and strategic transactions.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate for the Asset Liability Management (ALM) Senior Consultant position should possess a Master’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or other relevant fields that align with the responsibilities of the role. Additionally, candidates must have at least 10 years of progressive experience in Treasury, ALM, or Risk Management. Proficiency in English is mandatory, and candidates must also meet citizenship requirements, being a citizen of one of the 48-member countries of the IDB Group. Furthermore, candidates must not have any family members working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouses.
Educational Background: Candidates are required to have a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Finance, Risk Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or other areas that are pertinent to the responsibilities of the Asset Liability Management (ALM) Senior Consultant role. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and analytical skills to effectively manage the complexities of balance sheet management and risk assessment.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in areas related to Treasury, Asset Liability Management (ALM), or Risk Management. Additional Notes: The contract for the Asset Liability Management (ALM) Senior Consultant position is classified as a National Consultant role under the Local Remote Modality, with a duration of 12 months, which may be extended up to 48 months if applicable. The position allows for fully remote work, provided that the consultant resides in a country where the IDB Group has an office.
