Job Overview:
The Regional Finance & coordinator" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Grants Coordinator position is a pivotal role within CARE, aimed at providing strategic financial leadership and oversight for a multi-country humanitarian portfolio funded by the German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO). This role encompasses a range of responsibilities, including budget monitoring, financial performance reviews, and ensuring compliance with donor regulations. The successful candidate will work closely with country offices, program and grants teams, and consortium partners to strengthen financial management systems and drive quality reporting. The position requires a finance professional who can navigate complex environments and make informed decisions that maximize program impact in challenging operating conditions. The role is open to both national and international applicants, reflecting CARE's commitment to inclusivity and diversity in its workforce.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in finance, with a proven track record in financial management within the humanitarian sector. They should have a deep understanding of donor compliance and financial regulations, particularly those related to GFFO funding. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly. The candidate should demonstrate exceptional organization and prioritization skills, with a commitment to integrity and accountability in managing donor resources. Experience in multi-country financial coordination and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams are also critical for success in this role.
Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is required, with a preference for candidates holding a master's degree or professional accounting qualifications (e.g., CPA, ACCA). The educational background should reflect a strong foundation in financial principles and practices, as well as an understanding of the humanitarian context in which CARE operates.
Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in financial management, with a focus on the humanitarian or development sectors. Experience in managing multi-country financial portfolios and working with international donors is highly desirable. The candidate should demonstrate a history of successful financial leadership and the ability to navigate complex financial environments effectively.
Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, with proficiency in Arabic being highly desirable given the operational context in Sudan, South Sudan, and Chad. Additional language skills relevant to the regions served would be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Additional Notes:
This position is a full-time role, and the successful candidate may be required to travel frequently across the three countries to support financial coordination and oversight. - Provide financial oversight and technical support to consortium members and implementing partners, conducting financial capacity assessments and developing risk mitigation plans.
- Represent finance in award management meetings and cross-functional coordination forums, building the capability of finance and program teams through training and guidance.
