Job Overview:
The Local security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Assistant position is crucial for the implementation of security operations within the designated area of responsibility. Reporting directly to the Field Security Officer, the incumbent will assist in executing all actions related to the management of security and safety for personnel in the operational zone. This role is designed to enhance the security operations in line with the WHO's emergency health incident management system. The Local Security Assistant will be responsible for conducting periodic security risk assessments, preparing missions, and ensuring the safety of deployed personnel. The position requires a proactive approach to security management, ensuring compliance with United Nations security management procedures and protocols.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Field Security Officer, the Local Security Assistant will be responsible for the following tasks:

• Conduct periodic security risk assessments in the area of responsibility.
• Prepare missions and accompany deployed personnel in the field.
• Liaise and coordinate with police and/or military forces involved in supporting field operations.
• Ensure adherence to United Nations Security Management System procedures and instructions.
• Maintain updated lists of personnel members.
• Organize security briefing sessions for newly deployed staff.
• Advise personnel in case of emergencies according to the operational security plan.
• Monitor security incidents affecting deployed personnel and prepare incident reports.
• Follow up on the Warden System and maintain updated information regarding hotels and residences occupied by deployed personnel. 1
• Ensure effective management of HF/VHF communication means. 1
• Perform any other relevant tasks as required by the Field Coordinator or WHO representative.

Required Qualifications:
Essential qualifications include a secondary education diploma and completion of training in security interventions and procedures. Desirable qualifications include experience in coordinating field operations with security partners and prior work experience within the United Nations or another international organization. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of security protocols and the ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess at least a secondary education diploma. Additional training in security interventions and procedures is essential for this role. This educational background is critical to ensure that the candidate is equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform the duties effectively.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 8 years of experience in security interventions and procedures. This experience should ideally include coordination and field operations with security partners. Previous work experience with the United Nations or other international organizations is highly desirable, as it provides valuable insights into the operational context and security challenges faced in the field.

Languages:
Essential languages include a thorough knowledge of French and functional knowledge of English. Knowledge of local languages is considered an asset, as it can facilitate communication and enhance the effectiveness of security operations in the region.
