Job Overview: The Asistente de programas – agropecuario position at WFP is designed to provide technical assistance and support to communities involved in agricultural initiatives, particularly focusing on the Wayúu people. The role is integral to the implementation of the country strategic plan for 2025-2028, which aims to enhance the resilience and sustainability of food systems in Colombia. The selected candidate will work closely with local institutions, communities, and stakeholders to promote food production practices for self-consumption and strengthen social cohesion within the communities. This position requires a professional with a deep understanding of the local context, community dynamics, and the ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders. The Asistente de programas will play a crucial role in guiding activities that align with WFP's policies and objectives, ensuring that the interventions are sustainable and beneficial for the participating communities.
Duties and Responsibilities: The main responsibilities of the Asistente de programas include:
Monitoring the agreement between WFP and partner organizations for the implementation of productive units.
Establishing protocols for the procurement process of supplies and tools to be delivered to communities.
Reviewing and complementing the agricultural component themes required for the project, ensuring methodologies meet household needs as defined in the work plan with partners.
Providing technical support to communities during visits and identifying specific needs that require additional guidance or reinforcement, utilizing effective communication channels for timely actions and monitoring program objectives.
Accompanying institutional follow-up visits for project activity development.
Submitting monthly activity reports to supervision, or more frequently if required.
Responding to monitoring alerts and cases escalated on the SUGAR platform through feedback mechanisms with communities.
Performing other activities inherent to the role or as requested for the successful development of the project.
Required Qualifications: The minimum qualifications for this position include:
Completion of secondary education; a professional degree in agricultural business administration, agronomy, animal husbandry, agricultural engineering, agroforestry engineering, agro-industrial engineering, agricultural engineering, veterinary medicine, education, or related fields is desirable.
At least four (4) years of experience related to agricultural, livestock, or agro-productive activities with communities or social inclusion projects.
Experience working with the Wayúu people and knowledge of their culture and language is highly desirable.
Familiarity with virtual and in-person training methodologies.
Proficiency in Office tools and knowledge of gender issues, particularly in rural areas.
Educational Background: Candidates should have completed their secondary education, with a preference for those holding a professional degree in fields such as agricultural business administration, agronomy, animal husbandry, agricultural engineering, agroforestry engineering, agro-industrial engineering, agricultural engineering, veterinary medicine, education, or other related disciplines that align with the job functions.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of four years of relevant experience in agricultural, livestock, or agro-productive activities, particularly in community settings or social inclusion projects. Experience working with the Wayúu community is highly valued, as is familiarity with developing training methodologies for both virtual and in-person formats.
Languages: Fluency in both oral and written Spanish is mandatory, while proficiency in the Wayuunaiki language is desirable. This linguistic capability is essential for effective communication and engagement with the Wayúu communities.
Additional Notes: The contract duration for this position is until December 31, 2026, under a Special Services Agreement (SSA) modality at level SSA
