Job Overview:
The Senior IT Emergency Coordinator will play a crucial role in the IT Emergency Preparedness and Response Branch of WFP, focusing on coordinating and managing the organization's Information Technology response to emergencies. This position involves global and local leadership of the Emergency Telecommunications Cluster (ETC) and rapid deployment of the Fast IT, Telecommunications and Coordination Support Services Team (FITTEST). The IT Emergency Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that urgent communication needs of humanitarian responders are met, facilitating recovery efforts, and supporting Digital Assistance operations. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders and cluster members to effectively address the communication needs during crises. The IT Emergency Coordinator will also contribute to planning and development objectives that align with the strategic priorities of the response, including Digital Assistance activities and Services to Affected Communities (S4C). This position demands a proactive approach to monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on performance and activities against humanitarian plans, recommending corrective actions as necessary. The implementation of this role will often involve long-term field missions in challenging duty stations, requiring adaptability and resilience.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior IT Emergency Coordinator will be responsible for leading Emergency Response Technology Projects in field operations, managing field projects with a focus on Emergency Telecommunications Cluster (ETC) and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Telecommunication Services (TESS). Key responsibilities include representing the Technology Division towards Country Management, leading the identification and prioritization of key Technology needs, writing Concept of Operations (CONOPS), staffing plans, and budgets, and negotiating budgets with emergency operations management. The coordinator will provide leadership to IT Emergency Preparedness and Response (EPR) by organizing and chairing IT and ETC meetings, advocating for funding with donors, ensuring adequate emergency technology preparedness, and coordinating the preparation and dissemination of information for funding proposals. Additionally, the coordinator will identify and mobilize resources for services, support Digital Assistance interventions, supervise national personnel and partners, and perform any other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in Technology, Business Management, or a relevant field, along with a minimum of 8 years of experience in a related area. Extensive practical fieldwork experience is also acceptable in lieu of a formal degree. The role requires technical knowledge and skills, including the ability to design, plan, and execute projects in emergency situations, operate in challenging living conditions, and engage with partners effectively. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential, as well as the ability to influence and adapt communication styles to various situations. Candidates should demonstrate collaborative skills, cognitive capacity, and behavioral flexibility to thrive in a dynamic environment.

Educational Background:
A university degree in Technology, Business Management, or a related field is required. Alternatively, candidates with relevant post-secondary education combined with extensive practical fieldwork experience may also be considered. The educational background should provide a solid foundation for understanding the complexities of IT emergency response and management.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in the field of Information Technology, particularly in emergency response and management. Candidates should have a proven track record of successfully leading projects in challenging environments and demonstrating the ability to respond to emergencies effectively. Experience in managing teams and collaborating with various stakeholders is also essential for this role.

Languages:
Fluency in English (level C) is mandatory, with intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, or Portuguese being desirable. Proficiency in additional languages can enhance a candidate's suitability for the position, particularly in diverse operational contexts.
